**`096 - I don't know how to draw`** Ink and (not) fears 26/06/2019, Lisbon, Portugal 🇵🇹 "I don't know how to draw" is one of the most often used phrases when I invite people to draw. But... What is "knowing how to draw"? Is it being able to arrive at a astonishing final image? Is it being able to "mould" with a pencil? Is it throwing lines pointless? Do AIs know how to draw? For me, drawing implies two things: knowing and feeling. On the one hand, knowing connects to learning systems that already exist or are being researched, such as the different perspectives. These systems allow us, for example, to re-create a certain 3D shape on a 2D sheet. On the other hand, feeling has to do with balance, composition, colours, the constant relationship between macro and micro. Feeling the drawing has to do with going through the experience personally, living the process little by little and using our own mental algorithms. In my career, feeling was nourished by knowledge and vice versa, and that kept me in a spiral of constant curiosity and learning. Of course, little or nothing is achieved in drawing if there is no intellectual effort, criticism, non-conformism, an inner self pushing you to try again... But tell me dear reader, Do you like drawing? What are you more afraid of: the blank page or the final drawing?
