- I was reading through the @club/orb announcement for clubs and I thought it could be interesting to experiment with organizing public goods type work through a club treasury.
For example I think the Lens ecosystem could benefit from more data analysis around bot activity and moving the needle on spam prevention. There could be a request for proposals on the topic which rewards submissions that turn out to be valuable contributions to that particular problem. Then that publicly funded work could benefit everyone from platforms to smaller devs to regular users in the ecosystem at large. Maybe if I’m a platform I could be thinking something like “I would definitely pay null,000 for a spam prevention mechanism that’s just as good but has 50% less false positives” and contribute that to the treasury pool to resolve the given problem and data analysis, and it only gets released as the task is considered resolved.
Outside of bot/spam prevention, what are some data analysis or tools that would be worth funding through this treasury?
- The treasury and token aspect of this is really interesting. Started one for onchain data analysts here: <https://orb.club/c/data_analysts>
I could imagine something like this with a public treasury, and anyone can go to the club and make submissions and be rewarded via the treasury, which would also be used to fund work and analysis to be conducted. Curious to see @lens/orb Clubs keep evolving. As far as this club in particular is concerned if over time there does start to be a treasury I won't personally take a cent out even if I do contribute analysis
- Awesome to see @lens/aave subgraphs migrated to The Graph's decentralized network 🙌 I'll be using some of these for sure 🫡

- ✨Luz de Thamires✨
What a joy it was to work on this piece for @lens/rickydata!! When I posted an open commission last month I didn't know what to expect, but I was excited to try something new.
While composing this piece, I was working with the idea of light (luz). There is an ascending chord progression that repeats and develops as I imagine shimmering light would. I had fun playing with unexpected chord changes and gestures that capture the theme.
The final step of the commission was bringing the music to life at @lens/chrislippincott's studio here in Nashville. I love how his felted piano exposes delicate overtones that are otherwise unheard.

- What are people's opinions on the hardware level vulnerability found in M1/M2/M3 chips and the fact that Apple doesn't allow us to change/upgrade any of the hardware so we're just stuck with that? I really love what this company "framework" are doing with their laptops: https://frame.work/products/laptop-diy-13-gen-amd?tab=overview
Anyone here own one of these? Planned obsolescence by companies like Apple is truly horrible. These laptops on the other hand are insane in their upgradability, each part comes with a scannable QR code with everything you need to repair or upgrade. This reminds me of a concept Motorola was working on probably like a decade ago at this point with phones were you upgrade the parts independently (for example you might not want to upgrade the camera every single year). It really feels like we have no ownership over the things we buy anymore. These days most videogames you buy are designed to stop functioning in a couple of years when they take down the online servers, which for a lot of games also breaks offline singleplayer modes; gone are the days of owning a CD and a gaming console, and these two things being yours to keep functioning until they break. Just one of many examples of how drastically and rapidly things have evolved in this regard. Really hope this trend gets corrected in the long run!

Waking up to this 🙈🙈

- PSA for anyone not aware of this: The Graph hosted service endpoints will no longer work after June 12. There is an upgrade flow in place which is just a few clicks to move your subgraphs from the hosted-service to the decentralized network. If you use subgraphs and use the hosted service in production you'll want to move over. Luckily it's straightforward - please reach out if you need help!

Sunbeam is here
In October, The Graph ecosystem committed to executing on the Sunrise of Decentralized Data, enabling all hosted service users to upgrade their subgraphs to The Graph Network.
Today, Sunbeam, the second phase of the Sunrise of Decentralized Data, has started – marking the beginning of the Upgrade Window.
The Upgrade Window begins today and ends on June 12. During this window, hosted service users must upgrade their subgraphs to The Graph Network. Thanks to the support of recently launched features, upgrading to the Network is as easy as a few clicks!
New features were designed to make getting started on the network seamless, including:
100,000 free queries per month
Easy payments by credit card or GRT
Express upgrades in just a few clicks
Gasless upgrades for all hosted service subgraphs
Here’s a look back at the full Sunrise of Decentralized Data plan for more details on this milestone and what to expect next in the #GraphRising journey [... rest of the thread is here: https://twitter.com/graphprotocol/status/1778473600124608608 ]

- This is a @lens/punkess appreciation post. She's been here from day one tinkering and experimenting. All collect proceeds go to her and ofc in @lens/pointless.
- Lens has collected $ 500k in revenue in less than a week from profile mints, directly into the protocol treasury. Apps have also earned above $ 100k.
That's a great start for a decentralized social network.
- This is a really great idea - would be great data to have 😁
- Right now with USDC I'm earning 17.72% on Compound and 12.23% on AAVE, so crazy. I've noticed this can be an indicator of people being positive about the markets. Basically during a crypto bull run people think they can borrow that USDC and make more than 17% on it over the course of a year (which is actually not that much annualized compared to the opportunities during these times).
Has anyone looked at lending market metrics like these against what the markets end up doing? I can pull the historical onchain data using The Graph but always down to take a look at anything that exists first
- People don’t understand the big unlock transaction prices going down does. It enables being able to pay for your customer's gas.
This means abstracting all the complex understandings of gas away and being able to offer a system where the user benefits from all the features but uses an app just like they use their bank app today 🔥
- yes pleasee. There's probably pretty cool/interesting ways of setting this up (profit sharing back to some of the most used apps for example?). cc @lens/emmajane1313 who is a genius and has given a lot of thought to things similar to this

- Super impressed by how smooth the experience around minting @lens/lens handles is! It took pretty much a month to go from LIP to real implementation and incredibly smooth experience. I was particularly impressed by the paying by card flow ✨ huge congrats to the team and everyone involved in the effort to go permissionless 🙌

- Really great community call! 🙌
Not sure if the recording is available on @lens/buttrfly or if anyone uploads stuff like this anywhere, but recommend giving it a watch if it is.
I agree with Josh’s perspective and the things he said both on this call and on the discussions on github; spam will always be there, and personally I think we are well positioned to respond well to that kind of activity because of the diversity of platforms that exists, and I feel similarly about the onboarding questions that came up.
From my perspective I also don’t think there’s a better alternative to not opening things up, because as long as there is a strong and engaged community and a lot of diversity across the platforms I think we will be in good shape to respond to spam. So from the perspective of next steps against the alternatives it seems like a great time to do it to me personally.
I also think that with the current ideas going around around having a cost associated with creating an account and giving each popular app a certain free quota like what’s been discussed by both Josh and Stani, personally I think all of that has a pretty good chance of not ending up with a huge amount of spam, and even in those cases I think it is reasonably detectable for the most part, especially as a collaborative community. The idea as I understand it is to have a cost (let's say 5 MATIC - or whatever is comparable to opensea prices) to create a new handle, and then give the different existing Lens apps a bunch of free signup credits they can use as they please.
I'm definitely in favor of opening things up. Personally I see not getting enough traction as a much more concrete and real problem than systems becoming overloaded by all the activity and spam (especially in the approach as I understand it).
And I’m definitely around to be a resource for anyone who needs help getting to the data to execute on whatever ideas around reputation or spam prevention, so definitely feel free to reach out and I’ll do my best to make helpful public tools.
