- James Ross, CoFounder of Mode Network on Building the Modular Defi L2
In this episode, I sat down with James Ross, co-founder of Mode Network, to explore his fascinating journey in the crypto world and his pivotal role in Mode, a modular DeFi Layer 2 (L2) ecosystem.
Discover why Mode chose the OP Stack and how their collaboration with Optimism is driving their success. James highlights the necessity of a product-focused approach in web3, including user funnels, campaigns, and journeys. He explains how creating new revenue streams for developers through fee sharing and referral programs can fuel decentralized application growth.
We also touch on the importance of quality and active engagement over mere quantity in ecosystem applications, the significance of team expansion for scaling, and the strategic considerations in angel investing. Plus, get James' insights on NFTs' future potential and how they open new avenues for innovation and creativity in the crypto space.

- I build products, I build ecosystems, and I create content at the same time.
I’m just an extrovert web3 builder.
- It's not flex, but maybe some useful information if you trade these shitcoins in low frame.
I was in this $MOTHER position for 1 hour & 17 minutes in total. The results is ~+20%. It could go higher, but idc, don't be too greedy. +20% in 1 hour is a lot. Always stick to your initial plan when you're trading. You can miss huge pumps but huge dumps as well.
Jumped in at $0.093 for one simple reason; both my horizontal resistance (1) line (second to last ATH's level) and my uptrend resistance line was near. I was expecting that the coincidence of these two significant levels would stop the further decline. It more or less did. (The bottom was at $0.087, but nevermind, you can't catch the exact bottom.) A small-scale trend reversal occurred, with a strong pump.
The next question is: when should I sell? Use the same approach that you used for buying. Look for a significant level, where the selling pressure could increase and lead to a trend reversal. My level was the upper red line. So I sold at $0.111.
Actually you can do this in any frame, the bigger frame > the more time to reconsider things. 1 minute chart was OK for me because I was expected extremely high volatility.
The key is: be consistent & stick to your plan & don't be greedy.
+1: Don't try to catch the exact bottom & top. You never will.
