So we asked @lens/carlosbeltran one of the @lens/bonsai co-founders, about many curious things about Bonsai!

**💭 Where does Bonsai's name come from, and what is its story?**
🎙️When we first started thinking about dropping a memecoin for the Lens ecosystem, we knew it needed to be on brand, maybe even part of the lore.
Aside from almost being the name for their DA layer (now Momoka), we figured Bonsai was the perfect name for this project.
We started working on it internally at @lens/madfinance and invited @lens/seliqui to join, he’s a known builder in the space. It’s been fun working together on this over the last few weeks.
💭 **Can Bonsai be used as a governance token in the future?**
🎙️ To be perfectly honest, we did not expect Bonsai to be adopted by the ecosystem as fast as it has. Our roadmap for Bonsai originally was just open actions + incentives.
As with any token, Bonsai of course could be used for voting in DAOs like on Snapshot. But Bonsai wasn't created with this in mind.
We'll see over time whether or not this will be a future use case, if the demand is there.
💭 **What open actions are currently being planned with Bonsai? Do you have any alpha?**
🎙️ We’ve built about 7 open actions at MadFi and there are a few that work well with Bonsai.
I think the few that will come live and be integrated in Lens clients are RewardSwap (uniswap-powered swaps), PublicationBounty (pay for content or services), StakingRewards (lock your tokens to earn more), and RentableSpace (turn your post into a billboard).
I would recommend using these as we roll them out, as it qualifies you for the Season 2 Airdrop.
💭 **Do you have a plan for creators?**
🎙️ We have 10% of the total supply allocated for Bounties. With this chunk, we plan on incentivizing content creation in the Lens ecosystem at first, and then beyond when we start to expand outside of Lens.
💭 **What utilities does Bonsai currently provide in the apps?**
🎙️ In the first week, we saw pretty much all the popular Lens clients support $bonsai as a collect currency, and it’s been amazing to see the surge in collects and creativity.
Bonsai started as a memecoin, but it’s quickly becoming the culture currency of Lens.
Today it’s collects, tomorrow it’s swaps & rewards, and then it could be something completely new that we haven’t seen in crypto social.
💭 **What are the goals for Bonsai?**
🎙️ If Bonsai remains the culture currency of Lens and is used across all Lens Open Actions, then we accomplished our original goal. I think this setup is the perfect introduction for users new to crypto social.
