I think we're going to see more and more editorial platforms go behind paywalls, and I am really excited and optimistic about it I believe this is happening because the attention has moved to video for a while. Most people prefer to spend time scrolling reels instead of article feeds. And the advertising model that kept those platforms alive collapsed as the money went where the attention went So these platforms need to survive differently, and thus the paywalls But I also believe this is great for the community aspect, not just revenue. When you pay for something, you become part of something. It creates a different kind of relationship between the platform and its readers. The people still seeking out written content, are looking for something with more depth and intention. They truly care about the time spent on their screens, and they are willing to pay for what matters to them. And I believe especially now, when so much content is AI generated or superficial I think this shift is going to foster more subcultures, more communities built around specific ideas and values. Not everyone consuming the same viral stuff, but people choosing what resonates with them and committing to it That fragmentation, that intentionality, feels healthier to me than the endless scroll of free content optimized for maximum reach and minimum depth So yeah, we’re going to see more paywalls. And I think that's actually a good thing🌹
