In a groundbreaking study conducted in Germany, it was observed that frozen mouse brain tissue resumed neural activity after being thawed. Using a glass like preservation method called "vitrification" to prevent ice crystals from damaging the cells, the tissue samples were stored in liquid nitrogen at 196°C. Upon thawing, it was found that the nerve cells remained intact, electrical responses were close to normal, and memory mechanisms were functional. Although it is still too early for an entire brain, this method holds the potential to revolutionize fields such as the treatment of severe brain trauma, long term storage for organ transplants, and tissue preservation in the future.
