When Louis Vuitton released the physical trunks back in 2023 (the Louis Vuitton VIA Treasure Trunk), it deepened my understanding and strengthened my belief that what we’re experimenting with at the intersection of fashion and Web3 is the right direction We just need more experimentation until we discover the model, the one that truly works and gets widely adopted What LV did with this drop was disrupt itself by introducing a new business model that I still believe will shape the future of fashion They integrated Web3 purchasing, ownership, and membership. (crypto payments were accepted, digital keys existed on secondary markets, and ownership was provable through on-chain records) While all of that excited me, what I loved even more was the idea that a designer’s legacy can now be recorded onchain allowing them to continuously benefit from their work, even long after the moment of creation🌹
