I received an interstellar express from 2.73 million light-years away! These past few nights, I used a telescope to take photos of the M33 Triangulum Galaxy. It is about 2.73 million light-years away from Earth and is also a major neighbor of our Milky Way. The bright pink spots in the picture come from giant ionized hydrogen regions, where young O and B-type stars are tearing the surrounding hydrogen clouds with strong ultraviolet radiation, triggering continued star formation. In order to capture these red signals, a H-alpha narrowband filter with a central wavelength of 656.2nm needs to be added to the camera. Only the specific band of red light emitted by hydrogen atoms when the energy level drops from n=3 to n=2 can penetrate, so the HII region on the galaxy arm is accurately lit, and clusters of "pink little red flowers" appear on the screen. These red flowers are the distant stellar delivery rooms.
