The U.S. Treasury Department announced that the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has added digital assets, technology, gold, aviation, and shipping to the list of sanctionable sectors of the Iranian economy. This allows for sanctions against any individual or entity identified as operating in these sectors, regardless of their location. Simultaneously, OFAC sanctioned nearly 60 Iran-related entities, individuals, and vessels. The Treasury Department stated that Ukrainian shipping broker Ivan Obukhov has processed over $100 million in cryptocurrency payments since 2023 to assist in oil sales on behalf of the Quds Force of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC-QF).
