I think the London Marathon is one of the best and most iconic marathons in the world—not just as a race, but as an overall experience. 🏃♂️ Why it’s so special Incredible atmosphere: The crowd support is legendary. People line the streets for miles, cheering nonstop. Historic course: You run past places like Greenwich, Tower Bridge, Canary Wharf, and Buckingham Palace—it’s hard to beat that. Well-organized: Logistics, aid stations, pacing groups, and volunteers are top-tier. Inclusive: It’s great for elite runners, first-timers, charity runners, and wheelchair athletes alike. Charity impact: It’s one of the largest charity fundraising events in the world, which gives the race real meaning beyond finishing time. ⏱ From a runner’s perspective Course: Mostly flat → good for personal bests Crowds: Amazing, but can be overwhelming if you prefer quiet races Entry: Very hard to get through the ballot (that’s the biggest downside) 🎖 Reputation Part of the World Marathon Majors Seen as a “bucket list” marathon for runners worldwide Combines elite competition with mass participation better than almost any race ⚖️ Overall take 👉 As an event: Outstanding 👉 As a race to run once in your life: Absolutely yes 👉 As a PR course: Very good, if you handle crowds well If you want, tell me: Are you thinking of running it, or just curious? Are you a beginner or experienced runner? Do you want tips on training, qualifying, or getting an entry? Happy to help 🏅
