I didn't know about Threads indicating they're interested in supporting the fediverse. We'll see, I guess. Count me as deeply skeptical about their true motivations, and what might happen if they start to build real momentum. To your point, I think the key to the success of the fediverse is finding value through niches. If we move away from quantity and towards quality, there is hope. Lots of likes is really just a form of noise. The real question, the real signal, is *who likes* it and how does that activity emerge into meaningful groups.
