Hey everyone! This post is my attempt at some Socratic philosophy. Please read it scenically and with an open mind. The goal of this dialect is to either d

- I like to also think about consciousness from a shared perspective, does consciousness need to have shared elements with other people or does it work if someone experiences more than other, I think the answer is yes but them we could argue that imagination is real 🤔
- Bookmarked will read later 👀
- interesting exercise, I think that the statement of the infinite universe is accurate, but that consciousness is made of matter is not, I like how you use rhetoric to assert this. I would add that psychologically it is very difficult to support life on the idea of atheism, since Descartes and this association of reason with the divine, science was placed in the place of god and based on this the masses are manipulated as religion did in the past.
Since you mention it, gnosticism has caught my attention lately, what would you say it consists of? I have been reading Jung for some time and I think he subscribed to gnosis.
- If you believe in 9 dimensions, the reason we can not consciously be in more than one location is because currently we are all confined in the 3rd dimension, where we have to be in one place according to the laws of space-time. After death, or perhaps even before it by way of things like dreams, coma, drugs, meditation… we are able to slip into other dimensions where being conscious in more than one location is possible.
- Is consciousness made up of matter? No, if this does not hold, then there is no subsequent hypothesis
- So we are going to start by making two assumptions that have to be true for reality to exist in only one plane of existence.
- When we look at the laws defined we should answer, “Yes, given an infinite time after death our consciousness should be reconstructed, and it should in fact be ‘us.’”
me too
- Firstly, what do you mean by “infinity”?
David Hilbert, a German mathematician, invented a thought experiment called the "Infinite Hotel Paradox" that had a significant impact on the concept of infinity. The paradox illustrates a counterintuitive property of infinite sets and challenges our understanding of infinity. infinity is not a simple concept and can lead to counterintuitive results.
Secondly, what do you mean by “consciousness”? Are you referring to the state of being aware of and responsive to one's surroundings, memory system used by the unconscious brain to help us adapt to our environment, or electrical properties of the brain that are associated with consciousness?
Thirdly, it sounds like you’re describing quantum field theory. The Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics suggests that the quantum wave function collapses due to a conscious observer making a measurement of a physical system. This theory proposes that the act of observation by a conscious observer affects the outcome of a quantum experiment.
Is that what you’re getting at, or am I misunderstanding you?
- In the infinite time after death, our consciousness should be reconstructed, and it should actually be 'we'.
- Interesting question and proposition! I'm not sure the answer of one of the two laws being incorrect is as clear as you say.
The reason I'm not sure is because I think there's an assumption being made that memory and consciousness are inherently linked. I would argue this is not the case. We have been able to measure and observe memory and thought patterns in the physical structure of the brain via neural pathways. Have we been able to do this with consciousness? Is consciousness memory and thought patterns or something else? I am hesitant to equate general awareness with memory but I could be wrong.
Following this direction: if memory is different than consciousness then there could be versions of you that are conscious in more than one location: but the memories are not there and so you are not aware of your other 'selves'.
I propose this is where the idea of a collective conscience or a 'spirit' or god comes from. Could God just be the sum total of all consciousness replicating? Could we be replications of the original conscious(god) but lacking in the physical neural pathways(memory) that gives us the knowledge of our source?
- I think most reality happens through our subconscious mind
Before it can be seen consciously
- in parallel with the surrounding universe
- It is still an interesting idea to combine physical problems with consciousness problems
- Enjoyed reading. consciousness and perceptions are two different entities.
- Sometimes I stare at a door or a wall and I wonder what is this reality
why am I alive
and what is this all about?
- Can software exist without hardware? Can software be downloaded onto another hardware? If the body is the hardware, then the mind is the application software that captures thoughts, vision, sound, and so on. Consciousness can exist without these perceptions, but what is the underlying operating system and kernel? We cannot see it. What we can do is to touch base by stilling the thinking mind and minimizing turbulence. In other words, we can close all applications and let the operating system run at the base level. We still have perception - the perception of existence, but not the perceptions of applications. What causes this existence? More importantly, is there a better form of existence? An existence without perceptions, without movement, just stillness? There is.
