- The history of the internet (and beyond) is that of bundling and unbundling. Centralization and decentralization.
Social media is breaking apart now into smaller and more specialized groups. However, protocols are tying things together. Lens and Ethereum, obviously, but also AI!
- To play devils advocate, or just plain contrarian, will this ultimately lead to siloing of ideas and self-fulfilling echo chambers? I say this only partially seriously because 1) i understand that people and ideas are going to naturally congregate regardless of the underlying structure, and 2) I remain optimistic that we will have our moment of respecting everyone’s value yet. Buut, I do wonder if things get too fragmented will it become onerous to find where conversations are happening - those we agree with and those that challenge us!
Connections will still form in a vacuum, but some signals may get dropped. In a way, Lens could be both: focused yet chaotic, specific yet collective, individual yet corporate.
I do wish they would have tried to reach out to the smaller “social medias” they were talking about instead of just Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat tho
- Great article, I'd say

- I LOVE this!
- in general, we have to agree that communities are much more useful!
because our focus is on content and connecting people with the same intrests...
and now i think that Lens Community is a new achievement and it is ver practical...
Also, normal community is still useful that we have seen in web2 social networks like Reddit but i have not seen something like lens Community in web2 social networks.
I hope that users understand the value of Communities(normal, lens) and make the most of it.
- as if we at @diversehq are two steps ahead :))))
- Brilliant article - thanks for the share .
- Although vastly different focus, this reminded me of “Surviving the Future” by David Fleming from his main book “Lean Logic” — recommended.
- *"The future is that you’re a member of dozens of different communities, because as human beings, that’s how we are.”*
However you have to make a choice to decide the main community you are handle with
If Lens invite some news media to join in, then it will be much great
