Post by @ryanfox • Hey
I know I go on about this stuff and I apologize to anyone bored by it but I’ve been analyzing social networks since 2004, before we even understood them to

- *"Remember the 90-9-1 rule?*
*Data Sovereignty is niche. The 1% care. The 90% don’t care about the database they’re using, they want to consume engaging content."*
Love it. And the more the apps create the tools (first) and earlier & easier it is for a creator to find one which fits their content better. Plus, anybody can build over the Lens stack so it's not a matter of if, but wen! 👀
- Could not agree more @ryanfox.lens being able to contribute into the Content Supply Chain is groundbreaking. Lens is making it as easy as possible to tap into the content pool. Also the splits play vital role as incentives can be divided amongst everyone who contributed from giving inspiration to the app and algorithm used to discover the content.
- This is so true Ryan! Maybe we will have to first go through the web2 - like tools to create something different later. Might take some years before we get something new 👀
- This tracks, seems so simple but yet, so hard to achieve! Honestly, it applies to so many facets of life and work. Coming from an architecture background it’s clear we grapple with the same challenge...design the tool you want or accept the inadequacies of the tool you have (not to say that old tools are bad, but they might be the best tool for today’s job)…too often we sit around wondering wtf the tool designer was thinking without realizing we should somehow put oursleves into that conversation...or even worse dismiss a new tool offhand. But then again, architects as a driving agent in a modern, social, connected world is a whole other conversation XD
Thanks for sharing and putting it so clearly. Like someone else said…your longer text is super engaging and a pleasure to read.

- Thanks Ryan! It’s good to be reminded of this. It’s way too easy to fall into web2 social habits here.
Question for you: what’s a good way, in your opinion, for a musician to ‘break the mould’ as you mentioned, and move beyond simple transactional relationships (ie. charging for collects and providing NFTs as a receipt)?
Not looking for specific examples, but I’m curious how you see it from a birds-eye/ system-level view…
- Ryan is back !!! I have missed you on here 😎! One of the best accounts on lens 🌿💚
- He’s baaaaack 😍😍🫶🏽🫶🏽☕️☕️🍻🍻
- in some way related to this, Casey Newton shared a conversation with Kevin Systrom (Instagram co-founder) on Systrom's new project Artifact which is concentrating on comments to articles.

here the data is already available as well - the articles - and doesn’t need to be re-created anymore.
- Wow this is so insightful couldn't stop reading, love this.
- really good thoughts, Ryan. at first I've interpreted them as an expansion of Jacob Horne's 'Mint First' (https://jacob.energy/mint-first.html). but the scope is different while not excluding each other.
- It really is very interesting to see how this ecosystem develops and the almost endless possibilities of ways to interact with this new layer of ownership and finance in the context of social networks.
As I don't usually filter the ideas that come to my mind, I recently received some interesting feedback from a Charged Particles dev in the sense of being able to "charge" a Lens NFT with other nfts etc... as if it were a wallet (I don't know a better or correct term). And going further, I even see the possibility of using the sharing of earnings from posts in Lens by sending wmatic into other NFTs... This could create extremely complex and interesting dynamics that are definitely not impacted by numbers of followers to be functional and fun.
- NFTs enable social networks
- NFTs enable social networks.

- Great thread.
- lens is a new social network environment, in which we can speak freely
- The best way to experience lens and its growing ecosystem is to jump into the web3 socialfi rabbit hole. Anyone can become content creators under lens current working mechanism.
- Every word you say can be turned into an NFT, which is undoubtedly the most innovative and coolest way! !
- I support, you need to create new tools and monitize content!
