Comment by @punkess • Hey
very difficult decision. My initial reaction is hell no! ;-) onboarding experience, gardeners?, huge percentage of inactive users, UX with lens v2 is still

- Well well ! You queried everything man
- Its a good question. Yes, partners can already get into contact and mint profiles, some of the apps are doing it for small scale. However, I think what is missing is an open garden for everyone to come and on-board to any of their experience they are looking for. It would increase also the developers appetite to build on Lens, when they can manage/have control over their on-boarding and don't need a permission.
More devs building, more experiences, more risks, more tries, more creators and users.
When there is an open garden, nothing stops to build more curated gardens on top :)
- Couldn't agree more.
- Really difficult decicion.
- I don't think we are ready to be public. We are still facing issues with the infrastructure due to Lens v2, apps still have UX problems and there is no marketing program to provide growth support for apps in the Lens ecosystem.
I'm sharing this not as a complaint but as feedback, and I would love to help address this deficiency. I even working on it to propose as a LIP, cc: @lens/brad, @lens/christina, @lens/stani

On the other hand, there will never be a situation where we are completely ready, and we cannot learn where we stand without going public. Therefore, my view is to open the doors in a way that will onboard at least 100-200k new users. If we don't encounter problems, we will continue to onboard users.
