Post by @stani • Hey
Would you want an invite system for Lens? How many invites?
Comments
- 5 invites for people that are active and only 1 for people that seem unactive maybe or act like bots? And also the option to "refill" the invites by being active on Lens. Being somehow recognized.
- yes! I’d use Lens more if my friends outside of web3 were here. 3 invites to start
- absolutely! 5 to start is good. people always ask me how to get a lens handle or if I have any invites
- I know few artists that i'd love to invite to lens! 😍😍
- Trying out BluSky and have 3 invites that people haven’t used yet, they threading. Nostr may do invites, was there a second ago, chatter of how to get people to know about them better. If people are wanting to be here maybe an announcement saying if ya want an invite go to Discord. Saw LensPlay doing invites that way. Question is since so many people (me too) on so many, it’s how engaged will they be. And the learning curve may be a factor. Just my thoughts
- For the normal user I think 1 invite for each user would be great. This way they really think about who to give the invite too. For developers more invites would be better, we have a lot of people who want to come on over. Developers should be getting a minimal of 10 or even more I think.
It might even be interesting to make it 'renewable'. So each month you can give 'x' invites. Also for the normal user. This way the 'influx' of users can be coordinated.
- 1 per Lens user today,
3 per super user
5 per founder / builder
and…..
100 for one 1️⃣ web2 influencer - with a competition to figure out which influencer this should be.
Just ideas 💡
- Yep! Start with 5, future invites based on the effectiveness of the invite. If after a few weeks the invited account slip below a threshold the inviter gets fewer in the next round. If their invites create highly engaged accounts then they get more.
- Merit based, basis how well your current invitees are doing etc etc
- Sure.
I need 20 invites for a start.
I want to bring my friends over.
- Yes. Yes. Yes. Been asking for this for months.
Just track who invites who on the backend so you can stop invite abusers.
- I personally would be extremely decisive about who I invited in, so 1 a month if that. With such a limited quantity I would be very careful with who I invited in because we’ll I might not get another one for another couple months.
- absolutely, every #lenstopia citizen with a #lensbird score > 10 who collected https://lenster.xyz/posts/0x0f85-0x18d0 and https://lenster.xyz/posts/0x0f85-0x1793 and contributed to at least one #thisWeekOnLens highlight thread should be eligible 😉
- Yes. Invites should be extended to users according to their engagement. You therefore incentivise engagement and ensure that highest quality users are bringing in more high quality users.
- 5 tops, and in the future u get more or less based on the reputation ranking of people you invited
- Yes based on your profile quality and invite quality so for example if my invited person reaches X quality of his posts then I get another one or when I surpass a milestone get a good value post etc
- 5 max would be good imo
- think it makes sense, creates some kind of inter-personal context to the act of joining a new social media
- Yeeeeess. 3-5 would be great.
- Yep like 5
- Yes. 3 per each account
- hmmm... not sure, and not sure why I'm not sure!
- I know I have 1 friend dying to get on here
So just 1
- Definitely yes! 1 per week would be nice!
- for sure! let’s expand the garden 🌿
- Three (Because it's Web3)
- Absolutely. Maybe a limited # of invites to track the quality of the new members or some system similar to what @punkess.lens suggested above!
- great idea. i would suggets 1 invite per week
- 5 would be cool
- 3 to 5 would be great
- Yep, 5
- There are many knowledgeable individuals who can greatly contribute to the growth of the Lens ecosystem. However, due to the private nature of this phase, they do not have access to or the ability to utilize the features of the Lens Protocol. The right to invite new individuals by Lens users who possess the competence and qualifications can bring forth numerous opportunities and exciting developments for this ecosystem.
- Yes it definitely makes sense in my opinion.
I'm currently using Twitter, Bluesky, Farcaster and Lenster. Because I'm able to invite people to Bluesky and Farcaster I'm actually able to grow my following through existing connections, and as a result, feel like I'm currently getting better use/engagement out of those platforms than I am here...despite preferring Lens as I think it's more feature-rich for creators, and especially due to the "collect" feature.
As an artist/creator, it's harder to create/find new connections, than it is to onboard existing ones. I think an additional benefit to having an invite system is that it can be tuned to encourage what I would call thoughtful curation of invites...inviting quality users who post and use the platform is the emergent behavior that we'd want...inviting spammers and squatters should be deterred, and probably have that taken into account when invites are rewarded. Good invites result in more invites being granted, bad invites result in less being granted.
- 1 invite/week ( every Sunday)
- Definitely. I'm not sure how many invites would be best, but there should be a way to make sure they're only being given to the "real" users. I can imagine all the airdrop farming fake accounts trying to sell them.
- Wouldn't this just be exploited for the (potential) token airdrop? Like massively? Unless you guys & gals have an idea to mitigate that?
- Yep
- 5 a month would be awesome
- Could be great with non-transferable NFTs
- Amazing way to onboard web3 community into lens Protocol 🔥
5 invites per week is cool 📌
- we don't need invite system btw
- I suggest 1 invite per week or 10 invites in total
- nice idea. 5 - 10 invite is good.
- 1 invite per week
- Yes!! 10 invites
- Yes absolutely! Would love to be able to invite 1-2 friends per week.
- Absolutely
Every week 2 invite
- Id start slow. Maybe just give every profile one invite and see how it goes.
I’m curious how most people would use their invite. Give it to a friend? Sell it? Engagement farming giveaway? Create a second account for themselves?
I believe it’s a good time for it. And it would be fun to see how the TL changes.
- I think it should be one, if that one person met the requirement then another one. Requirements can me many things, Or every three months one. In general its good idea to have invite system but it should not become business.
- 1 invite per day
