Why would an average social media user want to use Lens instead web2 socials?
Comments
- Average user would most likely care about a new experience on Lens, or the fact that there are more direct and fair monetization tools. I am more betting on the new app. Overall as the network grows there are network effects that come from a shared portable graph.
- No app Dev on web3 can answer this question because they are basically creating these web3 apps for themself and their inner circle of friends to use .If I have to be truelly honest ,they don't want the normal people here 🤭
- I’m up to 20-some failed Lens onboardings tbh. Right now they don’t. Apps which enable wholly unique experiences and actions are the best bet to win normal users.
My personal bet for such apps is on disintermediating the singular social media post. The same way blogging and Craigslist and Instagram and Twitter blasted apart the newspapers’ content creation into many pieces, I think web3 enables the same to happen to social media posts.
That doesn’t mean singular posts go away, but the new thing enables incredible new incentives, new behaviors, new output and we just haven’t built that yet.
- I used it for the collect capabilities. I could see the cool features that creators could use. However I have been become bearish since my account has greatly reduced exposure.
- no idea, my friends when they took their first step on web3 and the first social media platform they heard of is Farcaster, not Lens, and they use Farcaster anw, not Lens
- Owning your own social graph, control over how the app functions, anti-botting via cost, connecting talent like LinkedIn but with on-chain evidence and reputation
