The statistics tell the tale - the more you go to the doctor, the more likely you are to die. This is regardless of any underlying condition. I'm grateful that my time in the military fucked up my hearing so that I have permanent care from the VA. It's just inconvenient and unpleasant enough to keep me away for little things but also keeps me from having to worry about the $$$$$$$ when something does come up.
