- Kenji Nagai: Missing camera reveals journalist's last moments in Myanmar
**It is an image etched in Myanmar's collective memory of repression and loss.**
**A middle-aged man holding a camera, lifted off his feet by a shot fired by a soldier at point-blank range as protesters flee in panic. He rolls onto his back, fatally wounded, still holding his camera up in one hand. A Reuters photographer would later win a Pulitzer prize for capturing that moment.**
The man was Kenji Nagai, a veteran Japanese video journalist. He was killed on 27 September 2007, at the height of the so-called Saffron Revolution, mass protests led by Buddhist monks in several cities in Myanmar against a military regime which had ruled for 45 years and run the economy into the ground.
His camera, missing for 16 years, has now resurfaced, bringing some closure to his family who flew to Bangkok this week to receive it.
- How Joe Biden's campaign hopes to overcome his age problem
**Time waits for no man, the saying goes - and for 80-year-old Joe Biden, that could be a problem. Can the US president convince voters that his age is not an issue?**
Mr Biden announced on Tuesday that he wants to serve another four years in the White House. Americans, according to a recent NBC News poll, aren't so sure.
The survey shows that 70% of Americans - and 51% of Democrats - think he shouldn't seek re-election. And it identifies one major concern for about half of those who want him to stand aside in 2024: his age.
Mr Biden is already the oldest president in US history. If he were to win re-election, he would be inaugurated at age 82 and finish his second four-year term at 86. According to US government actuarial tables, the average life expectancy for an 82-year-old man is 6.77 years, with an 8% chance of death within the next 12 months.
- Australian defence review plots pivot from armour to missiles.
**Australia will speed up efforts to buy longer range missiles to counter the growing threat from China, a major defence review says.**
It warns the country can no longer be protected by its geographic isolation in the "missile age".
The government will spend some A$19 billion ($12bn, £10bn) to deliver the immediate recommendations.
The 110-page report is described as the biggest overhaul of Australian defence since World War Two.
The Defence Strategic Review comes amid increasing military tension in the region over China's stance towards Taiwan, which it has repeatedly vowed to take by force if necessary.
The Chinese navy has also established a major presence in the South China Sea, claiming parts of it as its own territory, contrary to international law.
"China's military build-up is now the largest and most ambitious of any country since the end of the Second World War. This build up is occurring without transparency or reassurance to the Indo-Pacific region of China's strategic intent," the report states.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the review would "shape the future rather than waiting for the future to shape us", and its recommendations would make Australia "more self-reliant, more prepared and more secure".
