- New research from Uniswap Labs 🗞️
If you’re swapping with MEV protection, how do you know you're getting the protection you are promised?
You could use heuristics on proprietary data from providers like private mempools… but that isn’t easy or ideal.
Our research proposes a new metric for verifying MEV protection using onchain data only.

Pull to refresh 🔄 your NFTs, wallet balances, and tokens
Our software engineer shows you how:
- Dutch auctions start with a high asking price and gradually lower until a bidder accepts it. This concept is how UniswapX fillers compete to give you the best prices!
Dutch auctions were first introduced in the Netherlands in the 17th century to sell cut flowers.
In crypto, Dutch auctions have been used notably in NFTs. Artblocks is an NFT minting platform that lets artists sell their art using a Dutch auction. Artists list their art for a price that decreases until all pieces are sold.
UniswapX uses a Dutch auction to find the best price.
Swappers submit their order to a network of fillers. These fillers search their liquidity sources. The one offering the best price wins.
If the filler cannot complete the trade, the price drops until the next filler can.
If you want to learn more about the filler side of UniswapX, read the white paper:
https://uniswap.org/whitepaper-uniswapx.pdf
- New beta drop! 👀
Meet **UniswapX** ⚡— a new permissionless, open source (GPL), auction-based protocol for trading across AMMs & other liquidity sources.
TL;DR: Over time, it’ll give users more liquidity, better prices, MEV protection, & gas-free swapping!
Opt-in to the beta.
UniswapX is next-level aggregation 💪 It outsources the complexity of routing to an open network of fillers who compete to fill swaps at the best prices.
Read the details in our whitepaper:
https://uniswap.org/whitepaper-uniswapx.pdf
**What does this mean for swappers?**
As a competitive ecosystem of fillers forms, it will bring:
💸 Better prices
⛽ Gas-free swapping
🤝 MEV protection
🤩 No cost for failed transactions
👀 Gas-free cross-chain swaps (coming soon)
https://blog.uniswap.org/uniswapx-protocol
**How is it gas free? ⛽ 🆓**
Swappers sign an offchain order, which is submitted onchain by fillers who pay gas on swappers’ behalf to complete the transaction 🔏
Swappers don’t need a chain’s native token to trade and don’t have to pay for failed transactions 🔥🔥
**And what about MEV protection? 👊**
MEV is one of the biggest issues facing onchain swapping today.
With UniswapX, MEV that would be left on the table and captured by an arbitrage transaction is instead returned to swappers through improved prices 💰
**Cross-chain too? 😮💨**
Later this year, we’ll launch a cross-chain UniswapX that combines swapping and bridging into one action ⚔️
Swappers will be able to swap between chains in seconds 💨
This includes native asset swaps, reducing the need for bridged tokens.
UniswapX is built into the same interface you know and love, with the same principles of security, self-custody, and community that make Uniswap the most trusted name in DeFi 🦄
As always, our code has been extensively tested & audited 🔒
https://github.com/Uniswap/UniswapX/blob/main/audit/ABDK.pdf
**The opt-in beta is live today!**
Because we’re in beta, most orders will still go through classic routing.
As more fillers enter the system and parameterization is tuned, more trades will route through UniswapX.

- EIP-1153 will be a huge step forward for Ethereum and we hope to see in the next hard fork 🌴
Among other things, it saves gas on transactions — making it better for all dapps, including v4.
Let’s dive into it:
EIP-1153 introduces transient storage (or tstore 😉)
Instead of writing to storage and clearing it before the transaction is over, smart contracts will now be able to use transient storage, which is cheaper and enables some exciting use cases.
Let’s look at how v4 would use transient storage 😅
v4 introduces a singleton architecture, meaning all v4 pools will be held in one smart contract—making routing through multiple liquidity pools cheaper and quicker👇🏽
The singleton architecture is complimented by our new flash accounting system ⚡
Instead of transferring assets in and out of pools at the end of every swap—like in v3—this system transfers only on net balances. This makes accounting much cheaper in v4.
We believe EIP-1153 will be the best design for flash accounting because tstore makes it cheaper to set and clear a storage slot which is necessary for flash accounting to operate effectively.
What other projects do you think could be improved by EIP-1153?

- Account Abstraction (AA) has the capacity to take crypto mainstream 🌍
AA was introduced in EIP-4337 and allows for smart contract wallets to take center stage over EOAs.
Not sure what all that means? Lets dive into it:
Currently, users interact with Etheruem using EOAs (externally owned accounts—AKA wallets).
As a crypto vet, you might be used to the EOA process of signing a new transaction and paying gas every time you connect to an app or do an action—but for normies this process is cumbersome.
AA pivots the UX to smart contract wallets—code that lives on the blockchain and defines how the wallet behaves.
Because contract wallets are code, anything you (or someone smarter than you) can code can be part of your wallet experience—making the UX much more flexible.
Some examples of what AA can allow for include:
💸 Sponsored transactions
🔓 Seed phrase recovery
🤝 Permissioned controls
and much, much more.
Projects around account abstraction are still in the early days, but we’re excited about the innovation and security benefits that will come with it!
