- Free advice: you can get Ethereum blocks closet to a given timestamp using the Etherscan API (https://docs.etherscan.io/api-endpoints/blocks#get-block-number-by-timestamp). You can stick that block into most subgraphs to get the state of the subgraph at that block π€― (https://blocklytics.org/blog/ethereum-blocks-subgraph-made-for-time-travel/).

- Breakthroughs of the Year - Derek Thompson
1. The "Generative-AI Eruption": Autocomplete for everything. The transition from the creator economy to the narrator economy will be a rising trend.
2. The power to "reverse death" (kind of): Yale researchers are independently reviving the organs of pigs now. Damn.
3. The power to "synthesize life" (kind of): Israeli scientists are creating growing embryos with stem cells, no sperm or eggs. Damn.
4. The vaccine cavalry is coming: With the incredible breakthroughs in mRNA vaccines, we may be approaching a point where we can rapidly ship immunity at a global scale to some of the most prolific illnesses.
5. A snapshot at the beginning of time: The James Webb telescope keeps shipping incredible imagery.
6. "Unheard of" advances in fighting cancer: Many labs seem to be independently using novel breakthroughs in medicine to literally cure cancer in a small, selective sample size.
7. The obesity-therapy surge: Weight-loss pills that aren't snake oil.
8. Cracking the case of multiple sclerosis: This one is a little bit of a misnomer. Stronger vaccines against Epstein-Barr virus should prevent people from getting MS as a side effect of EBV. This should've been included in breakthrough 4.
9. Legal lab meat: In my opinion, this is the most digestible (hahaha pun intended) version of the "eat the bugs" narrative. I support efforts to create meat products without the animal cruelty or ecological impact.
10. New toys for the green-energy revolution: Small reactors, fusion, and more efficient green tech.
Humans don't get enough credit. Many hate on the modern world for making us "sick," but it looks like advances in modernity may lead to us being healthier than ever. I have no doubt there's a learning curve to being a human in a post-scarcity society, but we seem to be getting better at it.

- NEAR Strategic Update and Outlook for 2023 - NEAR Foundation
NEAR has strong technology, but its ecosystem has not been fully developed. The implementation of the Aurora Network as a smart contract with a dedicated shard is impressive, but ultimately it is still an exotic deployment of the EVM. The plan to allocate funding to the @developerdao.lens, Marketing DAO, and Creatives DAO is a good strategy for expanding the ecosystem. It will be interesting to see how much these DAOs can invest in a single project. In my experience, NEAR can be technical and difficult to understand, but these DAOs may also help lower the barrier to entry.

- Some accounts are very obviously bots crawling lens and following as many accounts as possible. If there ever is a $LENS airdrop I wonder how accounts will be selected for eligibility.

- **Noosphere, a protocol for thought - Gordon Brander**
Noosphere is a protocol for thought and a generic knowledge graph hosted on IPFS, currently in active open-source development on GitHub at https://github.com/subconsciousnetwork/noosphere. While it seems likely that social graphs will become popular, it may be too early to tell if a truly generic knowledge graph will catch on until there are sub-sector graphs for them to connect to, similar to Wikipedia's graph of academic papers (as mentioned by Balaji). The design of the Noosphere graph, with each node having a parent, is clever and reminiscent of git version control on a per-node basis. This should help resolve dependency issues as projects begin to build on top of different graphs. For more information, see https://subconscious.substack.com/p/noosphere-a-protocol-for-thought.
- This is a strange move by y00ts. Donβt blow it out of proportion, where y00ts lives is unimportant in the grand scheme of thing. That said, I donβt like NFT projects migrating ecosystems. Solana, Polygon, Ethereum, β¦ all have unique cultures. I think of NFT projects as fashion brands. Watching a fashion brand culture hop feels gross and unauthentic.
