- DN-404 with BONSAI
Welcome to this brief explanatory video about the DN-404 functionality of BONSAI.
(00:00:00 - Welcome)
(00:00:08 - What is DN-404? )
(00:00:48 - Example)
(00:02:08 - Outro)
---
So what exactly is DN-404?
It represents an experimental feature where an ERC20-Token-Contract and an ERC-721-NFT Contract are interconnected. This allows for seamless interaction between the two. In the case of BONSAI, 100,000 $BONSAI Tokens are equivalent to 1 NFT.
This means that once you have more than 100,000 BONSAI Tokens in your wallet, you automatically also have 1 NFT in your wallet. If your balance drops below 100,000, you lose the NFT. If you wish to transfer 100,000 BONSAI Tokens, you could simply transfer the NFT instead.
---
Example:
1. Markus possesses 490,000 BONSAI, therefore also 4 NFTs.
2. Nate holds 2,800 BONSAI, so he owns 0 NFT.
3. Markus transfers 40,000 BONSAI to Nate. Markus now has 450,000 BONSAI and still owns 4 NFTs, while Nate has 42,800 BONSAI but still 0 NFTs.
4. Markus then transfers an additional 70,000 BONSAI to Nate. Markus is left with 380,000 BONSAI and 3 NFTs, whereas Nate now has 112,800 BONSAI and 1 NFT.
5. Markus decides to transfer 1 NFT to Nate. Post-transfer, Markus has 280,000 BONSAI and 2 NFTs, while Nate has now 212,800 BONSAI and therefore also 2 NFTs.
6. Carlos shows up with zero BONSAI. Markus gifts him 125,000 BONSAI, and Nate sends 2 NFTs.
7. Following these transactions, Markus has 155,000 BONSAI and 1 NFT. Nate is left with 12,800 BONSAI and no NFTs. Carlos now enjoys 325,000 BONSAI and 3 NFTs.

- Web3 is becoming Web
- Introducing the Lens SDK – your new go-to toolkit to create powerful experiences & applications for the social layer of Web3.
Developers rejoice! We have lowered the barrier to entry and made it easier than ever to create innovative, powerful, and engaging Lens apps and experiences. With the new Lens SDK you can plug into the Web3 social layer with just 10 lines of code.
Pick and choose the features you want - only the components you use contribute to the final size of your app bundles. These capabilities are all handled by the Lens SDK, allowing developers to focus on their core features.
The SDK is modular and composable. It seamlessly integrates with other Web3 projects, protocols, and tools such as @litprotocol.lens to enable token-gated publications.
Mobile apps have been some of the biggest success stories on Lens. The new SDK doubles down on mobile support, starting with React Native. With the SDK, you can build polished mobile apps without underlying knowledge of the Lens API or Lens Protocol.
Come build the future on the social layer of Web3.

- European Parliament approves crypto regulation, Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA)
📌 Rules come into affect in 6/2024
👇What Does This Mean
1️⃣ MiCA will bring crypto markets into the regulated space by addressing risks related to consumer protection, market integrity, and financial stability.
It will also provide legal certainty for market participants that will be able to continue to innovate, in a safe environment.
2️⃣ Will introduce rules to prevent market abuse of crypto markets, such as market manipulation.
Crypto-asset service providers into the scope of anti-money laundering rules
3️⃣ Under MiCA, crypto-asset service providers – like wallet providers or exchanges – that serve EU customers will have to be established in the EU.
And they will be authorised and supervised by national supervisory authorities.
MiCA will allow EU-authorised crypto-asset service providers to passport their services throughout the European Union.
In return, these operators will be subject to stringent prudential and conduct rules, in addition to rules against insider trading and market manipulation.
Crypto-asset service providers will also have to disclose the environmental impact of crypto-assets they offer to customers.
4️⃣ The Transfer of Funds will require all crypto-asset service providers recognised under MiCA to include information about the sender and beneficiary with crypto-asset transfers.

- **How Long Do Recessions Last?**
The NBER tracks the average length of U.S. recessions. According to NBER data, from 1945 to 2009, the average recession lasted 11 months. This is an improvement over earlier eras: From 1854 to 1919, the average recession lasted 21.6 months. Over the past 30 years, the U.S. has gone through four recessions:
**The Covid-19 Recession.** The most recent recession began in February 2020 and lasted only two months, making it the shortest U.S. recession in history.**The Great Recession (December 2007 to June 2009).** As mentioned, the Great Recession was caused in part by a bubble in the real estate market. The Great Recession wasn’t as severe as the Great Depression, its long duration and severe effects earned it a similar moniker. Lasting 18 months, the Great Recession was almost double the length of recent U.S. recessions.**The Dot Com Recession (March 2001 to November 2001).** At the turn of the millennium, the U.S. was facing several major economic problems, including fallout from the tech bubble crash and accounting scandals at companies like Enron, capped off by the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Together these troubles drove a brief recession, from which the economy quickly bounced back.**The Gulf War Recession (July 1990 to March 1991).** At the start of the 1990s, the U.S. went through a short, eight-month recession, partly caused by spiking oil prices during the First Gulf War.

- What Causes Recessions?
There is more than one way for a recession to get started, from a sudden economic shock to fallout from uncontrolled inflation. These phenomena are some of the main drivers of a recession:
**A sudden economic shock**: An economic shock is a surprise problem that creates serious financial damage. In the 1970s, OPEC cut off the supply of oil to the U.S. without warning, causing a recession, not to mention endless lines at gas stations. The coronavirus outbreak, which shut down economies worldwide, is a more recent example of a sudden economic shock.**Excessive debt**: When individuals or businesses take on too much debt, the cost of servicing the debt can grow to the point where they can’t pay their bills. Growing debt defaults and bankruptcies then capsize the economy. The housing bubble in the mid-aughts that led to the Great Recession is a prime example of excessive debt causing a recession.**Asset bubbles**: When investing decisions are driven by emotion, bad economic outcomes aren’t far behind. Investors can become too optimistic during a strong economy. Former Fed Chair Alan Greenspan famously referred to this tendency as “irrational exuberance,” in describing the outsized gains in the stock market in the late 1990s. Irrational exuberance inflates stock market or real estate bubbles—and when the bubbles pop, panic selling can crash the market, causing a recession.**Too much inflation**: Inflation is the steady, upward trend in prices over time. Inflation isn’t a bad thing per se, but excessive inflation is a dangerous phenomenon. Central banks control inflation by raising interest rates, and higher interest rates depress economic activity. Out-of-control inflation was an ongoing problem in the U.S. in the 1970s. To break the cycle, the Federal Reserve rapidly raised interest rates, which caused a recession.**Too much deflation**: While runaway inflation can create a recession, deflation can be even worse. Deflation is when prices decline over time, which causes wages to contract, which further depresses prices. When a deflationary feedback loop gets out of hand, people and business stop spending, which undermines the economy. Central banks and economists have few tools to fix the underlying problems that cause deflation. Japan’s struggles with deflation throughout most of the 1990s caused a severe recession.**Technological change**: New inventions increase productivity and help the economy over the long term, but there can be short-term periods of adjustment to technological breakthroughs. In the 19th century, there were waves of labor-saving technological improvements. The Industrial Revolution made entire professions obsolete, sparking recessions and hard times. Today, some economists worry that AI and robots could cause recessions by eliminating whole categories of jobs.

- **Why is bitcoin valuable?**
Part of what makes Bitcoin so valuable is its scarcity. Bitcoin’s maximum supply is limited to 21 million coins. Currently, there are 19 million coins in circulation.
To create supply, Bitcoin rewards crypto miners with a set Bitcoin amount. (To be exact, 6.25 BTC is issued when a miner has successfully mined a single block.). To keep the process in check, the rewards given for mining Bitcoin are cut in half almost every four years.
- *When we first think of crypto, we usually think of Bitcoin first. That’s because Bitcoin represents more than 45% of the total cryptocurrency market. So when we talk about any cryptos outside of Bitcoin, all of those cryptos are considered altcoins.*
*Ethereum, for instance, is regarded as the most popular altcoin.*
- **How do you buy crypto?**
You can buy cryptocurrencies through crypto exchanges, such as Coinbase, Kraken or Gemini. In addition, some brokerages, such as WeBull and Robinhood, also allow consumers to buy cryptocurrencies.

- ***Why are there so many cryptocurrencies?***
Cryptocurrency is an emerging area with more than 19,000 crypto projects in existence, with very few barriers to entry. Last year, in particular, witnessed a crypto market boom, with thousands of new crypto projects added.
While some crypto function as currencies, others are used to develop infrastructure. For instance, in the case of Ethereum or Solana, developers are building other cryptos on top of these platform currencies, and that creates even more possibilities (and cryptos).
