**On Demo's**
I have been judging and reviewing numerous demos & pitch decks lately thanks to @lensxyz.lens. Many builders have confidence while building, but they don't trust themselves while doing demos and pitching. Paradoxically, the best way to do it is just being yourself, without the use of fancy external resources.
A **demo** explains what you've made more effectively than any verbal description. These are some suggestions that can help you while pitching or presenting your project, idea, or milestone not only in hackathons or grants but also to VC's and any areas of your life.
**Be yourself**
There is nothing more powerful than the actual builder speaking about his project. Don’t out source the narration or presentation. Don’t try to add cool graphics and texts. Just talk about your project. There is no one better than yourself.
**Don't underestimate demo’s**
Presenting your project effectively can be crucial for achieving your goals. You may be a tech wiz, but if you can’t engage a reviewer from start to end, probabilities are that you will be ignored.
**Explain what you're doing**
The only thing worth talking about first is the problem you're trying to solve and why it's important. Say what you're doing as soon as possible, preferably in the first sentence. “We are X from the Y team and we've built an easy-to-use frontend application. Now we'll show it to you and explain why people need this”. But don't spend more than a tenth of your time on that.
**Get rapidly to demo**
When you demo, don't run through a catalog of features. Instead, start with the issue you're solving, and then show how your product solves it. Show features in an order driven by some kind of purpose, rather than the order in which they happen to appear on the screen.
**Don't talk about the future**
Your primary goal is not to describe everything your application might one day become, but simply to convince reviewers, you're worth supporting for further development. Talking about the future in such uncertainty is hearsay from our perspective. We value execution. Plans will change.
**Don't get too deeply into business models**
It's good to talk about how you plan to make money, but mainly because it shows you care about that and have thought about it. Don't go into detail about your business model because (a) that's not what we care for milestone demos, and (b) any business model you have at this point is probably wrong anyway.
**Be confidence**
Never say “we're passionate” or “our product is great.” People just ignore that—or worse, write you off as bullshitters. Such messages must be implicit. If you've truly made something good, you're doing us a favor. If you don't genuinely believe that, perhaps you need more preparation for your milestones. If you don’t believe it, why should we?
**Don't try to seem more than you are.**
You are an early-stage project building on Lens Protocol, which is an early-stage startup on an early-stage web3 social niche within an early-stage web3 industry. We're not looking for finished, smooth presentations. Don’t we worried about missing things or uncertainty. We don't expect you to have it all figured out. We don't have it ourselves. Don't try to look more than you are, we can notice. We value authenticity.
**Make it short**
The demo can’t be more than 5 minutes, or we will dismiss it. It’s important to learn how to be brief and engage an audience. We can then further test your demo with any resource or url that you send. Just focus on sending the most significant message. The shorter, the better.
Don’t get too technical, Milestones are about meaningful and impactful features & flows. We don’t need to know how everything is done behind the scenes. We want to see how this technology can be useful for the ecosystem. Explaining complex technical things in simpler terms is much appreciated.
- Happy to read that !
I also built a social app during LFGrow, same timing as you. I think I built something decent back at the time, but you shipped incredibly fast and overcame all competition in the hackathon, well done !
I wish you all the best for the future. Enjoy your time building in web3 🚀

- gm lens frens 👋
Today I have made an important decision in my life 📢
I quit my job today and going to focus full-time on maintaining the first-ever open-source frontend @lenster.lens 🌸 powered by @lensprotocol 🌿.
Building social media was my dream since 10th grade, I built more than 4 social media in public but all failed, Lenster is my 5th one and it’s going crazy ⚡️.
I believe building in public is key 🔑 to the success of a product.
We have a lot of items queued up in the roadmap, be excited about it 🕺
**Collect this post for 2 WMATIC and support Lenster’s development 🙏**
- What do you think of **Tally Ho** wallet ?
It is a "community owned and operated Web3 wallet".
- I saw this post below on the blue app, and wanted to share some thoughts on it.
The collapse of FTX & Alameda is a black eye for crypto and is going to cause a lot of pain for a lot of people. The continued domino fall of these centralized platforms shows the deep need for strong decentralized systems.
As Cobie and Ledger live streamed the demise of the latest hero of crypto, I watched as in the next room over, 3 of the greatest contract devs I know furiously debated, as part of an audit of [redacted]. Behind me the @lensapi.lens backend & infra teams were attacking every whiteboard and glass window with expo markers detailing a new architecture that will help scale Lens several orders of magnitude. On Github, @lenster.lens one of the leading Lens applications that came out of our hackathon with @ethglobal.lens was trending. In Telegram, the Polygon Team along with devs across the Lensverse were analyzing the latest block data and working together to optimizing code to keep all apps and experiences running despite a chaotic gas environment.
There is going to be a lot of hurt over the next few weeks and months. Many people will lose funds, regulators will use this incident to enact stricter regulation. Yet, even still: @aaveaave.lens, Maker, Compound + DeFi were paid back first and continue to dutifully follow their smart contract code to provide open financial access to all. Uniswap & Seaport are still functioning, swapping tokens and NFTs without fail. ETH, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism and more are producing new blocks, filled with unstoppable decentralized computing for devs to utilize.
We are not done. Numbers may keep going down, mistakes will happen, more idols will fall. But the movement will continue, the devs will keep building. The decentralized future is coming, anon, like it or not.
- We’ve teamed up with Lens to provide better social experience and features on Zerion. 🌿

Today I wanted to introduce you to Sismo and explain you what ZK Badges are 🧵⬇️
(stay until the end, there might be a badge to mint 👀🎁)
What is Sismo?
Sismo is « a modular Attestations Protocol focused on decentralization, privacy and usability. »
But what concretely does it mean?
Sismo enable you to prove on Ethereum to anyone, thanks to one of your addresses, that you are, have or did something. Theses proofs are represented by badges, which are non-transferable NFTs (ERC-1155 tokens). To be allowed to mint a badge, your address must be in the group of eligible addresses associated to it.
But now what if you could prove something with an address but receive the badge on another without any link between these two 👀
So proving something without doxing the address you used to prove it.
That’s what ZK Badges allow us to do!
With Sismo you prove directly in your browser that your address is part of a group of eligible addresses. It uses zk-SNARK technology.
Let’s take a simple example: you can prove, on an anon address (destination address), that you own a conference POAP, by using your ENS address (source address) which contain that POAP. And vice versa. But of course your source address allow you to only mint one badge on the destination address of your choice, no more.
This is a simple example but you can imagine much more useful ones!
There are obvious uses cases for Sismo and ZK Badges such as Sybil resistance. By the way Sismo has already shipped a “Sybil resistance” ZK Badge using Proof Of Humanity, go check this out: https://twitter.com/Sismo_eth/status/1569668644497510402?s=20&t=texAnda3oLd9C1iRjfFCdQ
So this allow you to prove that you are a human on an anon address using your POH registration (doxed) address. It’s not perfect yet but it’s a start and it shows how ZK Badges can be powerfull! 🔥
Privacy is necessary in the IT world and even more in an ecosystem like Ethereum where all our interaction are public. That’s why Sismo will help us to create anonymity on top of these concepts and more…
Now lt’s time for the little gift! 🎁
If you want to try out Sismo and get your very first ZK Badge ➡️ **Mirror** this post
Then, from 02/10/2022 you will be able to mint the badge associated to the proof that you Mirrored this post. I will let you now when it’s available and the steps to follow to mint it :))
Thanks for reading this thread and welcome to Sismo anon! :))
