1. Security (end to end encryption, employees etc should have zero knowledge about keys)
2. Each app should have its own wallet (composability is user choice)

Today, we will explore the world of NFTs, these digital assets presented as "non-fungible," to understand if their uniqueness is truly flawless.
NFTs are often at the center of discussions, but it's essential to know that these highly sought-after images are usually stored on centralized servers or services that claim to be decentralized, like IPFS.
Furthermore, it is crucial to note that the metadata of NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain is often modifiable by the contract owners. This means that for certain popular collections, their metadata could change overnight, or even worse, if these metadata are centralized, you could permanently lose the images you purchased. You would only be left with the token number as the last reminder of your purchase.
From the developers' perspective, managing NFTs on Ethereum can be a real challenge. It requires keeping track of the contract addresses for each collection to know which NFTs belong to us, raising questions about usability and long-term ownership.
Recovering all your NFTs would be possible by performing a global query of all transactions made with your account. However, this process could be quick and straightforward for some, while complex and time-consuming for others.
Should we look for more decentralized alternatives? Are there other platforms offering true non-fungibility for digital assets?
Let's take the example of the BAYC collection. The contract has been completely "burned," meaning that no one can modify it anymore. This is quite interesting, but we must still hope that IPFS will be a protocol that stands the test of time.
Recently, the Ordinals of Bitcoin have emerged, offering an elegant solution to this question. With the Ordinals, your NFTs are directly recorded on satoshis held in your wallet. This means no risk of loss, and a simple query on your wallet reveals all the NFTs you own. Additionally, the images or content are directly recorded on the Bitcoin blockchain, eliminating the need to query external servers or another blockchain to access the content easily. It is readily available on Bitcoin.
However, this solution currently faces two main issues. Firstly, each NFT is entirely independent. There is no contract indicating each NFT, which means you need to know all the token numbers to reconstruct a collection, requiring trust in a third party.
Secondly, Bitcoin is a relatively slow blockchain. Transactions take an average of 10 minutes, but it can sometimes take several hours. Moreover, transaction fees are also high, approaching those of Ethereum.
In conclusion, NFTs on Ethereum raise doubts about their true uniqueness due to the centralization of images and the flexibility of metadata. Therefore, it is crucial to exercise discernment when exploring this exciting space of digital assets.
Let's stay curious and continue to explore the nuances of NFTs to better understand their potential! You're early! β‘οΈ
