- web3 Nights in Barcelona (European Blockchain Convention), cold but big turnout!
- We've been here before.
It's a systemic problem of humans. Crypto speedruns through all of human's finance history to get to the same result that got us here in the first place:
We need decentralization.
We need self-custody.
We need to verify, not trust.
We have the technology for it. We must use it. I'm optimistic events like these keep pushing the makers to build solutions that make it so user-friendly, nobody will even consider centralized intermediaries.
- FTX crisis didn't happen because of "some rogue, evil genius that we can easily blame", but instead it's a systemic problem with our political and financial system. "We have to hold people accountable, including ourselves, because in a democracy there is no one else."
— Demetri Kofinas' podcast, Hidden Forces; featuring Vance Spencer & Michael Anderson from Framework Ventures on the FTX collapse and SBF's attempt to limit #defi for his own benefit.
Listen: https://hiddenforces.io/podcasts/downfall-of-ftx-cryptos-path-forward-vance-spencer-michael-anderson/ (Spotify, Apple, etc.)
Summary: SBF lobbied for DCCPA to get an unfair advantage. This bill would make it hard for open source developers to function and limits consumers' access to #defi products. The FTX crisis and regulatory rumors are unsettling because they add fuel to the fires of the extreme left and extreme right and the growing distrust people have in institutions. We should work to improve these institutions and not let this slide.

- **Can't get access to the Lenster or Guild servers on Discord?** Are you stuck on the screen where you only see 3 channels?
Here's an easy fix:
You're connected to guild with the wrong Discord account. Disconnect your other Discord account and then reconnect the correct one using this guide: https://guildxyz.notion.site/How-to-dis-connect-social-accounts-530778ae94ae4e6987d9c58265c3b7a3
Troubleshooting that didn't work:
- I tried leaving the server in Discord and re-joining 3x via the Guild link https://guild.xyz/lenster and https://guild.xyz/our-guild,
- I completed the Discord steps (agreeing to the terms),
- I verified on the guild page that I had a role assigned.
Turns out it was just a case of user error.
- Memes about blue checkmarks have been showing us how easy it is to create #disinformation—spreading falsehoods intentionally. **I wonder if Lens can solve these problems:**
💥 Disinfo costs $100B+ globally to tackle. Social media giants benefit from increased engagement via ad revenue.
📈 Content moderation is a game of whack-a-mole. It costs Twitter billions vs. the pennies it costs to create.
🏘️ Reddit’s model of communities with unpaid moderators works *a bit* better. But still needs centralized moderation to tackle serious issues, and you still get echo-chambers where disinfo is rampant.
🕸️ It’s impossible for any single network to see how ideas spread on Web 2.0. For example, we can’t see how a synthetic idea that blooms on Parler or 4chan, spreads to Reddit, then reaches boomers on Facebook, while other milk the noise around it on Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
🌱 Imagine being able to see how your own social graph is influencing you. I'm also tired of fake profiles and foreign/state actors.

Collecting Yogi's post today for $2 was a no brainer: https://lenster.xyz/posts/0x0d-0x0252 — crypto just feels more playful than FIAT. If my bank charged me $0.01 for transactions, I'd leave.
- Do you have your Lens profile on your Ledger hardware wallet?
Makes it quite hard to use Lenster with @orbapp.lens
Your Lens profile is an NFT. Like most NFTs you can transfer or sell it. It might be obvious to some, but you should know how you can transfer your profile to a hot wallet aka a wallet that's accessible on your phone.
Step 1. Locate your Lens profile NFT. There are many ways to do this, we're gonna use OpenSea. Go to https://opensea.io/account and search for 'Lens Protocol Profiles'. There's your profile.
Step 2. Click the paper plane icon. (see screenshot)
Step 3. Send to the address of your hot wallet. MAKE SURE IT'S THE CORRECT address. Otherwise you're going to lose access to it forever!
🎉 That's it!
You'll notice that all the accounts you follow are gone. That's because they're NFTs too. You could move them individually to your hot wallet, but I'll be honest, it's quite some work. Maybe someone will build a 'Move your Lens profile' app that does all of this for you?
Note: This decreases the security of your Lenster profile. If someone hacks your phone or computer, they can steal your profile.
- Having trouble enabling #DMs on Lenster — anyone else getting an infinite load screen of "awaiting signature to enable DMs" after signing to enable XMTP?
Troubleshooting I've tried:
- Relaunching browser
- Relaunching wallet extension (Rabby)
- Logging out of Lenster
- Confirming that the following looks OK: Rabby > Activities > Signed Texts > XMTP: Create Identity

- Online customer reviews are deeply flawed. I wonder if Lens could provide a solution.
Some of the biggest problems:
-everyone reads reviews. Almost nobody writes them.
-negativity effect: customers with a negative experience are more likely to share it
-big economical incentive to fake reviews. Reviews are a major ranking factor for Google, Amazon...
-Humans have different tastes. We like and dislike different things. A lot of the places I find cool are hell for my dad and vice versa. Most review platforms mash all of our opinions together. Imagine reviews adjusted by your social graph.
