Natasha Hoskins is a creator, brand builder and Co-Founder of Boys Club. A social collective bringing a new voice to the new internet. Product studio and media company. Best known for their parties, community, podcasts, interviews with crypto builders, memes, merch and a newsletter.
In this episode we talk about the Boys Club origins from Natasha getting intro’d into crypto by her co-founder Deana Burke. To a full capacity dinner event for predominantly women interested in web3. Going on to hold bigger and better parties.
We ask Natasha about their experiences building a social collective brand in crypto, how they designed their DAO, how they are thinking about audiences, and making collaborative releases like printing a physical zine.

- 📚 **Fun fact about posts on #Lens!**
They can be hosted on either centralized or decentralized resources.
Decentralized ones cannot be deleted. A better name for the "Delete" button (@lenster.lens) in this case would be "Hide" because, technically, it is more accurate. Such a post can still be viewed even after deletion.
On the other side, centralized ones can be deleted if you or anyone else can access the centralized host. Or better, if a post owner can delete it, he can also change the content. So, when you see a post, you can only be sure that the content will stay the same once you know whether it is centralized or not (better not to believe in bet predictions on Lens, right?).
And since comments are technically still posts (but with a reference), we can edit them as well and make some dirty game. In general, there will be no edit tracks unless the comment's content has been uploaded to some sort of archive.
That was my first thought, but then I dug a little deeper. The trick won't work with the default Lens indexer that everyone uses nowadays because it indexes posts only once after transaction confirmation on #Polygon. So, basically, it copies your post to the indexer's DB, and later, when you use Lenster or some other client, you don't get the data from the actual post's content URL but from this DB.
I wondered why it works like that because this means the indexer's DB won't represent the actual state of the blockchain in some cases. I've written in the Lens Discord, and the answers were as follows:
https://discord.com/channels/918178320682733648/1080136391989669989/1080230235854864446
@cesare.lens: "To be clear the blockchain data is not changed, on-chain each post|comment has a content URI that cannot be changed. The contentURI has to point to a public location. From an immutability perspective a "purist" would argue to use an immutable data storage (e.g. IPFS) still the Lens Protocol does not stop you to use a URL you control. The indexer is driven primarily by on-chain events to determine what and when to fetch contentURI. Updating the file won't cause a chain event so simply updating the file won't work."
@wagmi.lens: "We will add a refresh endpoint soon it's on the radar"

- Hey!, my name is Benjamin Gutiérrez, one of the founders of Wav3s 🤝 and I'm here to tell you the story of how I went from a regular job to living my dream of working full-time on Wav3s.
At the end of 2021, together with @cristianvaldivia.lens , another Wav3s founder, we decided to leave our start-up at the peak of success. We were working like crazy without much remuneration, but it was impossible to scale, since we were working with hardware. We knew we wanted to take the plunge and dive into the world of Web 3, since our team meetings always ended up with us discussing the exciting world of blockchain. We had a couple of ideas, but nothing concrete - so each one of us went our own way.
I spent the next year automating processes in several companies, while still studying up to launch myself into entrepreneurship in Web3. The second semester of 2022 changed everything. With Cristian, we attended our first crypto event in Argentina - and it just so happened that it was on my birthday! It was one of the best birthdays I've ever had, getting to know the crypto community and projects like Poap , which helped us a lot to connect with more people. But the highlight of the week was when Stani talked about Lens protocol - it blew my head off! 🤯
When I arrived back in Chile, I was disappointed to find that there was not the same level of community and activity. I apply to become a Polygon Guild Mage, to create the Polygon community in Chile. Hundreds of people applied, and luckily I was chosen - I think my travels to Argentina helped.
Thanks to being a Polygon Guild Mage, I was given a scholarship to Devcon. We participated in the Hackathon and I still think we should have won a prize, because our product was really good - and the product work perfectly. We created a humanity verification system with Poap, so if you shared POAPs with another person, you could validate them as human - a simple, but useful idea to fight bots. 🤖
Although our project, Verify me or Soureal, didn't work out, I still have a lot of affection for it. We had the chance to meet the entire Lens team, including Stani, and they invited us to rAave and more. 🤗
When we returned to Chile, we met @bvdaniel.lens , the other Wav3s founder, and tested a couple of ideas within the Lens ecosystem. When we made it public on Lens, nobody tested it or even liked it. We felt completely unnoticed, so we decided to create Wav3s, so that everyone could spread their publications through Lens - and the growth it has had, and all the support we've received, still amazes.
The conclusion of this story is that one decision can open or close a world of opportunities - so don't be afraid to take a risk, because you may find something even better! 🤩

- **The Rise Of UGC 2.0: User Generated Collects**
Everyone has seen the power of User-Generated Content 'UGC' in the age of social media. Here's why UGC 2.0 or 'User-Generated Collects' will be the next evolution of this format unlocked by the blockchain.
I have been posting snippets here on Lenster the last few weeks about these themes as I framed out my article.
Here is the final piece: **https://mirror.xyz/chrissyb.eth/r0SyE9QdvQribykjXvdMqYElGQT8ZFnthV_rUlyNqNk**
#LMCC
Inspired by the following people: @ladidaix, @ryanfox, @bellosights (@levychain), @stani and @azeem.
**Cliff notes:**
In today's one-directional social media interactions, "likes'' are abundant & meaningless when it comes to generating authentic connections or content discovery. Instead of simply liking something, we would rather participate.
UGC 2.0 is not just a new format, it will revolutionize social media by unlocking far-reaching effects on content consumption than its predecessor. Collectable social content will enrich our experiences and create new forms of digital engagement between creators and users alike.
By giving creators and users ownership & control of their content without the impediments of gatekeepers they can leverage it into new opportunities across fandom, community connectivity, curation, data and monetization.
Creators aren’t defined by one platform or medium anymore. The creators, curators and communities of tomorrow will be empowered by data transparency aggregated across the entire social ecosystem without the gatekeepers and centralized databases of today. A more sustainable environment for the long tail and micro-creator to flourish as a result. Indexing less on numbers such as reach and likes, instead providing the tools to focus on quality and depth of relationship and content.
It will also mark the future of brand creation. Changing how brands interact with consumers as active participants in their own social consumption.
This is what @lensprotocol strives for. I hope this piece helps scratch the surface and inspires creators, users and builders to explore the possibilities.

- "Crypto" means different things to different people.
The public figures who stake their identity on being against it have a completely different view of it than the people building in crypto during this bear market.
Detractors see crypto as a threat to everyday citizens and consumers.
But what if crypto is or at least has the potential to be exactly the opposite of what these detractors believe? 🤔
For us, being "pro-crypto" means being pro...
