in the film world exists a level of pretentiousness that i have always wanted nothing to do with. an unspoken requirement to use certain cinema cameras for quality when it is only to stroke the ego of an executive who needs to see money being spent and couldn’t debate a camera nerd on specs to save their own life. a circle-jerking of 16mm or 35mm film users when 99% of consumers view from their phone and can’t tell the difference between standard definition or HD as it is, let alone film. as if most can even remember what they just watched before becoming distracted by what pops up next about kim k. i feel as if i’ve come full circle with image capturing devices thanks to certain post-production technologies we have at our disposal and there is an allure in using whatever you have in a certain moment instead of getting FOMO for not carrying an $ 80,000 device while traveling. i’ve released a few such instances here on lens the past few months and _GLIST3N is no different - living in the moment, something that looks visually appealing presenting itself, and making something of it with intention of a meaning.
