Zuck envisions that social becomes more immersive, pretty much the bet Meta has been going after since the rebranding. I definitely agree that there will be lot of space for new social networking in surfaces we all are still exploring (VR, AR etc) and big part of the experience would be immersive. There is lot of value to experience social in 3D and making this experience as real as possible, even if its not the same experience as IRL. According to Zuck the focus now is to make incremental improvements on the experience itself - things like having your avatar reflect your facial expressions is valuable.
Also Zuck mention an interesting topic on.... Holographs! Recent progress on holograms is getting better - seeing earlier 2pac as hologram and now the latest excitement on Abba Voyager hologram tour, I am quite bullish on what could be done as the tech matures more.
Immersive social will never be the exact same as you would feel when you would meet someone IRL, but it would definitely create a new layer of social experiences we all can benefit from.
Whether to choose a headset, glasses or 3D holographic experience appearing in front of me, for me its the holograms
