- Do you remember how it happened?
How we became our own little world?
How everything suddenly spun
And tumbled head over heels?
It was the first year, we were children,
Wishing to enter a magical realm,
Then came the second, and the third,
We kept on dreaming all the same.
The real world was gray and cramped,
We didn't want to live like everyone else,
We needed a world of magical songs,
We needed an unusual friend.
With whom we could at night
Go down to the lake in winter,
Listen to the wolf's song from the forest
Under the fiery full moon.
To soar on wings, smiling,
Creating magic along the way,
And gasping from emotions
And loving to the point of losing memory.
Year after year, we created,
Always crafting a new dream,
And we fell in love with this dream
Because we met within it.
Year after year, we dreamed
That one day the moment would come,
When, shaking off the sorrows from our souls,
We would step off the covers of our books.
And the day came... I couldn't believe it,
Couldn't understand or realize.
"Is this all a dream?" But I checked,
I could breathe in your scent.
For you were so close, so familiar,
Though your body was strange to me,
With you, I felt at home,
Your soul was kindred to mine.
A few moments were enough
To feel a wave
Of emotions, feelings, sensations,
They all came out in one night.
I write to you and realize
That I missed you even then,
In dreams, I still embrace you...
I'll never forget, my friend.
