Do you also like it when the weather is bad before leaving on vacation? ✌🏽 It makes it easier for me to go home, and just such a day dawned before leaving Madagascar, as expected in the rainy season.
When we saw that the sky probably wouldn’t clear up, we canceled the boat trip and started by tuk-tuk to Andilana Beach, which is about a 45-minute drive from our accommodation in Ambatoloaka. This beach is said to be the most beautiful on Nosy Be, and it probably would have been even more beautiful if the weather had been better. White sand on a cloudy day turns yellow, and the turquoise color of the water becomes dark blue.
On this beach, there are hotels, and all the sunbeds are owned by them, but as there aren’t many guests, they allowed us to use them in exchange for spending at their bar. As it is a huge hotel, their restaurant is not near the beach, so we had lunch at a local one right on the beach. Madagascar has a bad reputation for hygiene and street food, so I avoided it, but here, I couldn’t resist freshly caught fish. Thank God, I didn’t have any stomach problems until the end, but my friends seriously got into trouble because they stayed longer and ate something bad after I left. So, probiotics + activated charcoal and preventive measures on such destinations!
Andilana Beach is also known for its mangrove forest that you can walk through. Many people take pictures and sell souvenirs on the beach, so we used the rainy weather for shopping (you can see my new picture on the 9th photo).
Although clouds covered the sky all day, the sun did its thing, and once again, the sunset blew us away! 🌅🫶🏽🌴
