- πSt. Moritz, Switzerland π¨π
Traveling by train from Zurich, with a transfer in Landquart, we reach St. Moritz in exactly 3 hours, located near the border with Italy. Unlike other Swiss ski resorts, I'm sure everyone has heard of St. Moritz, and the main association with it is luxury. And that's partially true. This truly glamorous ski resort attracts the wealthiest people from around the world who seemingly compete at first glance to arrive with a better car or a more expensive outfit.
On the other hand, St. Moritz is a place with a long history as it pioneered winter tourism in Switzerland, hosting the first mountain hotels and even hosting 2 Winter Olympics in 1928 and 1948. St. Moritz's trademark is the sun, as it enjoys over 300 sunny days annually, and the tourist organization's logo, "St. Moritz, Top of the World," reflects its elevation of almost 2000m, with three peaks reaching over 3000m.
St. Moritz turned out different than I imagined. Okay, I expected expensive shops and hotels, but I somehow thought it would be cozier and more fairy-tale-like, and what I encountered was a real city. I'm used to those sweet Swiss towns like Grindelwald or Wengen where I spent my winter vacation last year, so it took me a little time to adjust to the size of the city.
As expensive as St. Moritz may be, you don't have to be a millionaire to visit. Hotels outside the city center can be found at prices similar to some in our mountains (even more affordable!), and transportation is perfectly organized, getting you everywhere in 10-20 minutes. I'll write more about the hotel we stayed at later.
A one-way ticket for the Zurich-St. Moritz train costs 80 CHF (a little over 80 β¬ as the franc is now stronger than the euro), but we caught daily tickets for the whole of Switzerland for 49 CHF that Swiss Railways often releases and used them for this trip. It takes about 3 hours by car from Zurich.
A recommendation for a place to soak up the sun and enjoy coffee is Chesa al Parc restaurant located next to the outdoor ice rink, which unfortunately is closed for this time of year due to high temperatures πβοΈβΈοΈ

- the coolest thing about collecting vinyl records is that you can listen and watch them at the same time. before I talk about some practical aspects of collecting, I would like to focus on their aesthetic value. vinyl records and their covers are simply beautiful. when you hold them in your hand and put the record on turntable, you can experience true artistic rapture. for me it is definitely more than just listening to music it is experiencing music on a very broad creative level.
I would love to hear about your experience of collecting, why collecting, what does it give you?

- πAngel Falls, Venezuela π»πͺ
Back in 1933, during a flight aimed at searching for potential gold reserves, Angel Falls (Salto Angel in Spanish), currently the world's highest known waterfall, was discovered. It was spotted by a man named Jimmy Angel, who gave it its name. So, perhaps the translation into our language is incorrect, as it has nothing to do with angels but with his surname. He glimpsed it briefly from his aircraft and returned to the 11-day expedition, where they barely survived the dense jungles of today's Canaima National Park.
Although many things have changed compared to a hundred years ago, reaching this natural wonder is still not an easy feat today. After a four-hour journey from civilization, we reached the camp from where we set out for a trek the next morning. It took us about an hour to reach the first viewpoint and another hour of waiting for the sky to clear so that we could see the waterfall in its full beauty.
After the viewpoint, we headed to the waterfall itself, where it's possible to bathe in one of its lower pools.
The height from which the water falls is precisely 979 meters. In the upper part of the waterfall, the water looks like mist, making it almost impossible to distinguish between cloud and water.
Our much less demanding expedition ended with lunch at the camp, and we returned to the lodge by the same boat. Unfortunately, luck wasn't on our side on the way back, as we encountered a heavy rainstorm that Christian had warned us about upon arrival. Not even raincoats helped us from getting soaking wet (last photo), so the hot chocolate at the camp was the best reward we could imagine upon arrival.
This was a big wish come true for me, and I couldn't be more grateful ππΏπ¦

- π Exploring the Ethereal Beauty of Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia π§π΄
Hey Lensfrens!! I'm still enjoying my vacations but want to take a time to share some of these beautiful places I've been visiting!
Today, embark on a visual journey through the world's largest salt flat, spanning over 10,000 square kilometers! Salar de Uyuni is a surreal and captivating landscape, especially during the dry season in October when the vast expanse of salt crystals stretches as far as the eye can see, creating a lunar-like tableau.
The salt crust is a legacy of prehistoric lakes that evaporated over thousands of years, leaving behind these mesmerizing salt deposits. Walking on it feels like stepping onto another planet! π£β¨
We were fortunate to find some spots of water, allowing us to experience the stunning visual effects of natural mirrors, while having a picnic. While it's not the expansive water landscape seen during the rainy season, it provided a unique and beautiful experience with perfect reflections of the sky, creating playful optical illusions.
This salt flat is not only a natural wonder but also sits atop a treasure trove of lithium, essential for powering the electric vehicle revolution. The Bolivian government is ambitiously aiming to tap into this resource and has garnered interest from various international firms. Despite previous setbacks, there is hope that the extraction of lithium and the production of lithium-ion batteries could become a reality in the coming years. I just hope the extraction doesn't harm this beautiful, natural landscape.
Grateful for these unforgettable moments and the opportunity to witness the beauty that nature has to offer. ππ
