Foamy Streak - Day #29
- 16 years ago today the original iPhone was released. Difficult to get and hyped beyond belief, I finally got mine on day three. It was probably more polarizing a device than you think...
My first 2 days with it felt incredibly empowering. AT&T was a nightmare--the phone would not activate all weekend. Their stench of empire was still lingering. Despite being house-bound it was hard to miss that Safari in my hand (powered by wifi) made me feel like a revolutionary. I suddenly had infinite access to infinite information (Google). Most telephone companies saw this phone as a threat. I saw it as a fight consumers were about to win handily.
Maps in my hand meant freedom. I could never get lost again. I felt this change so deeply I booked a trip to Shanghai, a city I knew absolutely nothing about, soon after.
And that was pretty much all it took for me to "get it."
No App store.
5-8 hours of battery life.
Horrible camera quality.
No video recording.
No iCloud.
Gmail was pretty much the only "cloud" product, but that was just email.
And you had to plug it into a computer to sync media, backup, and update software. Yet here we are today, where it's assumed everyone has a device in this form factor with access to the cloud at all times.
You can't get lost.
You can always find a ride.
You can always find shelter.
You can always find ______
Are you not entertained?
It's been a fun ride.
I hope one day I'll be able to add the Vision Pro to this reflection…

- Last week, we shared how @lensprotocol built Momoka, its innovative scaling solution, using Bundlr
Let's dive into what that means 👇🏾
Momoka uses Bundlr for scalable storage and ordering, and Polygon for smart contract interactions
One of the most significant challenges of this hybrid approach was maintaining transaction order across the two different systems
Lens solved this problem with a simulation solution that guarantees the real-time chronological sequence of user transactions, regardless of whether they are posted to Polygon or Bundlr 🚀
Bundlr as a storage and ordering layer is 1000x more cost-effective with 700x lower latency. Since launching last week the average Momoka transaction cost is only $0.0005 🤯
Bundlr's ordering service is fully permissionless, and is detailed in our docs 🤝
https://docs.bundlr.network/overview/services/ordering
Stay tuned for one more exciting announcement from Bundlr and Lens. In the meantime, dive into our blog post on how Momoka was built using Bundlr 🌟

- Very excited to share that I've partnered with KarmaVioletta for my frist pay-to-collect podcast! All collectors of this podcast will receive private access to an exclusive DJ mix recorded during Art Basel '22, the week that I met them! I'll also send the transcript of the podcast and the AI-generated summary and notes to any collectors who want it. All proceeds will be split evenly between the the podcast and KarmaVioletta.
Karma and Violetta are artists, partners, world builders, and more. They are both independent musicians who make music together and individually. And they’ve been a core part of the broader web3 music scene for a while. Together, they started the Wave World community, a music community focused on creating intimate experiences for artists to connect with the most engaged fans. I met Karma and Violetta at Art Basel in Miami last year and they have since become good friends. This podcast was recorded in person at ETH Denver in March, my first podcast recorded in person and it was incredibly fun. We talked about their backgrounds in music and web three, their experiences with song camp and with music collaboration in general, what wave world is all about, their thoughts on how AI and other emerging technologies will affect music in the future, and so much more.
I hope you learn something new from today’s episode.

"Downloading Shiva" is a self-portrait by Glitch artist Cyber Shakti, inspired by the love story of Shiva and Shakti in Hindu mythology. The work was made when the artist adorned her Shakti avatar, coming into her own during a challenging time in her life!
The artwork features a digital portrait of Cyber Shakti in a trance-like state, surrounded by a swirling vortex of vibrant glitched pixels.
The focal point of the artwork is the image of Shiva, one of the primary gods in Hinduism, who is depicted as a digital manifestation. The image of Shiva appears to be downloading into the artist's consciousness. The work merges the ancient deity, retelling the story of the masculine and feminine deities in the cyber realms.
Cyber Shakti was inspired by the moment in the love story of Shiva and Shakti when Shakti decided to be in her own power and awaken Shiva from his deep state of meditation. The union of Shiva and Shakti represents the union of the individual soul with the universal consciousness, and this moment in the love story symbolizes the power of the feminine to awaken and transform the masculine within. In this Glitch rendition, Shiva and Shakti are slowly becoming one. Shiva is Shakti & Shakti is Shiva.
