- 33 Reimagining Art Practice with UFO — @ivanosalonia.lens
Ivano Salonia is the creative director of UFO, based in Amsterdam. An artist, musician and creator in extended realities and virtual worlds. He is the artist behind the UFO poster art and NFTs.
Since July 2022, Ivano and @hollins.lens have been creating the visual identity, art and brand of UFO. We went to ETH Tokyo in April and hacked on a UFO project with Lens Protocol and @livepeer.lens. We just built a website at ufo.fm — an onchain radio station and club for music, arts and ideas. This podcast is the first on the network.
We talk about Ivano’s artistic practice starting out in advertising, design and brand. Doing work with global companies and agencies. How he became interested in making art in virtual reality, and experiments with AI and generative tools such as Midjourney. Diving into the web3, crypto and NFTs space from 2020.
We talk about the creative scene in Amsterdam and the creation of the UFO art style and drops including UFO Genesis Pass and the Frequency Modulation release on Zora, remixing a retro MTV ad from the 1980s.

- Introducing Orb Communities! 🪐
The Community Layer of Web3.
Orb Communities are composable and interoperable, built on top of the @LensProtocol.lens.lens. It makes it easy to integrate community features across Lens apps.
Today, we are thrilled to present the first iteration of Orb Communities, a vision that has been with us since we embarked on the Orb journey a year ago.
These communities are a fundamental part of the composable and interoperable community layer of web3.
User-owned communities empower people by decentralizing authority and making every individual a crucial stakeholder in the community's direction and evolution.
This marks a significant shift from traditional, centralized communities, where only a select few make decisions.
We believe that @LensProtocol Profiles are much more than NFTs.
At the core of our Communities membership lies the ERC-6551 with Lens Profiles turned into Token Bound Accounts (TBA).
Communities are much more vibrant and engaging when built together.
We warmly welcome developers to build upon it! Check out our Mirror for more https://mirror.xyz/orbapp.eth/s5HNwiDup4sw2nbDi8FgZmlcpR6qIulTsW5qh6KRT0I

- This is so cool. Building quick and fun games on Lens that all Lens users can play on a shared network. Reduces the cold start problem and makes engaging on Lens more fun!
Would love to hear ideas how we could actually play these games directly on Lens feed. Imagine you scroll your feed, see a game, instead of collect you have "Play" (as an open action for example), pay 1 MATIC and try to get highest score. Leaderboards will reflect similar to Lensbird.
Also all the apps on Lens can even reflect as an event similar when someone mirrored, that someone played this game.
- 🌿 LensFluencer Interview Series 🌿
Welcome to a new interview with LensFluencers. We are excited to get to know our LensFrens better! 💚
Let's check out the answers we received from @jessyjeanne.lens and @0xzelda.lens 👇🏻
✨ Jessy Jeanne ✨
Jessy describes Lens as a cozy little family that has each other's backs 🤗
Also, she concludes in Jessy style, "We're not just creating $FRIES here, we're building the biggest French fry brand the world has ever seen!" 🍟
✨ ZELDA ✨
Zelda sees the Lens community as a family and feels very welcomed and happy on Lens 💚
Interestingly, the concept of LensFrens started for him as an escapade in the early days but later became tangible as he noticed people interacting with his content 🤗
We also asked our beloved Lensfluencers about their favorite Lens apps they enjoy using! 🌿
Check out the answers below 👇🏻
📍 @buttrfly.lens @orbapp.lens
- This isn’t the next Facebook.
This is a social operating system.
Every existing app and platform can already benefit from becoming Lens-compatible. When developers “port” their apps over it’s positive-sum for everyone. More Data + More Users = More Value.
To those building natively here:
There is room for apps of all scales and purposes, similar to a desktop or mobile operating system. Some apps here will become giants akin to Microsoft Office, Google Chrome, or Adobe Photoshop—universal platforms that become integral to the user's experience. These 'giant' apps are used by virtually everyone because of their broad utility and the network effects that come with widespread adoption.
Meanwhile, other apps will carve out their own niches, much like CCleaner, Notepad++, VLC, or WinZip. These are the 'utility' apps that perform specific tasks exceptionally well. They may not be universally known but they garner loyal user bases because they fill a need, solve a problem, or simply do their job better than any other app out there.
I encourage every dev right now to take a moment and look at the apps installed on their device. Lens has the capacity to host a similar diversity of applications, each contributing to the overall “Social Operating System” experience in its own unique way. Rather than compete with Facebook I would recommend building with the “Operating System” framework in mind and trying to solve your own niche problem/task first.
Not everything has to compete with Facebook’s scale!
////////////////////////////////////////////////////
A fun brainstorming game to play
////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Find an App or System Setting in your device’s OS and then ask ChatGPT for the Social OS equivalent.
Use this prompt:
I'm building apps on Lens (a new social networking protocol) and I'm told to think of it not as a Facebook competitor but as a new Social Operating System. They say there's room for apps at all levels, the same as a desktop or mobile operating system. So in that context, what would be the “Google Maps” of this OS?
* Social Network Navigation App: This app would map out the social connections between users, helping them navigate through their relationships. It could provide insights into how different users are connected, recommend potential new connections based on shared interests or mutual friends, and suggest paths for reaching out to new people.
* Event Discovery and Navigation App: This app could help users find and navigate to events within the social network. Just as Google Maps can help you find physical events and navigate to them, this app could help you find online events happening within the social network and guide you on how to participate.
* Content Discovery and Navigation App: This app would guide users through the vast amount of content available in the network. It could use algorithms to recommend content based on users' preferences and behavior, help users explore new types of content, and provide tools to navigate through different content categories.
* Trend Mapping App: This app could track and visualize trends within the social network. It could show what topics are currently popular, how trends evolve over time, and how they spread across the network.
What would be the Logic Pro?
* Social Media Music Studio: This app would allow users to create, edit, and mix music or audio tracks directly within the social OS. Users could then share their creations on their social profiles or collaborate with others. Features might include various sound samples, mixing tools, and the ability to record directly into the app.
* Podcast Creation App: This app would provide all the tools necessary to record, edit, and publish podcasts. It could also integrate with various social platforms to promote episodes, engage with listeners, and gather analytics.
* Audio Storytelling App: This app could provide a platform for users to create and share audio stories or spoken word content. It could offer tools for adding sound effects, music, and other audio enhancements.
* Collaborative Music App: This app would allow users to collaborate on music projects, providing a shared space where they can contribute tracks, mix together, and share their creations.
What would be the utility apps?
* Privacy Management App
* Content Scheduling App
* Analytics App
* Curation App
* Identity Verification App
* Anti-Harassment App
* Cross-Platform Search App
There’s a ton of opportunity here to build social apps which can sustain your lifestyle without needing to reach 1 billion users.

- 📚 **Fun fact about posts on #Lens!**
They can be hosted on either centralized or decentralized resources.
Decentralized ones cannot be deleted. A better name for the "Delete" button (@lenster.lens) in this case would be "Hide" because, technically, it is more accurate. Such a post can still be viewed even after deletion.
On the other side, centralized ones can be deleted if you or anyone else can access the centralized host. Or better, if a post owner can delete it, he can also change the content. So, when you see a post, you can only be sure that the content will stay the same once you know whether it is centralized or not (better not to believe in bet predictions on Lens, right?).
And since comments are technically still posts (but with a reference), we can edit them as well and make some dirty game. In general, there will be no edit tracks unless the comment's content has been uploaded to some sort of archive.
That was my first thought, but then I dug a little deeper. The trick won't work with the default Lens indexer that everyone uses nowadays because it indexes posts only once after transaction confirmation on #Polygon. So, basically, it copies your post to the indexer's DB, and later, when you use Lenster or some other client, you don't get the data from the actual post's content URL but from this DB.
I wondered why it works like that because this means the indexer's DB won't represent the actual state of the blockchain in some cases. I've written in the Lens Discord, and the answers were as follows:
https://discord.com/channels/918178320682733648/1080136391989669989/1080230235854864446
@cesare.lens: "To be clear the blockchain data is not changed, on-chain each post|comment has a content URI that cannot be changed. The contentURI has to point to a public location. From an immutability perspective a "purist" would argue to use an immutable data storage (e.g. IPFS) still the Lens Protocol does not stop you to use a URL you control. The indexer is driven primarily by on-chain events to determine what and when to fetch contentURI. Updating the file won't cause a chain event so simply updating the file won't work."
@wagmi.lens: "We will add a refresh endpoint soon it's on the radar"

- Celebrating GHO live with a little custom anim gif! 👻🎉
- The @aaveaave.lens DAO has successfully launched GHO on the Ethereum Mainnet.
Congrats to the Aave community on this historic moment!
GHO is the manifestation of the ethos of "Internet People" - those who believe in the transformative power of decentralization and the democratization of finance. It's about building a future where everyone can participate with equal access. GHO paves the way for a more transparent, decentralized and efficient financial future.
The beauty lies in its design. Overcollaterized and transparent, it's minted using assets supplied into Aave Protocol V3 as collateral. What sets GHO apart is its commitment to the broader Aave community. The repaid interest on GHO is redirected to the Aave DAO treasury. This supports the sustainability of the protocol and the ongoing development of new features.
GHO's price is pegged to null USD within the Aave Protocol. This design supports stability and utility, helping maintain GHO's peg to the dollar. For those staking AAVE tokens in the Safety Module, a discount on GHO awaits. It's a testament to the belief in rewarding those who contribute to the security and robustness of the Aave ecosystem.
Together, we're not just building a product; we're building a community.
