- There is high demand from Lens users to see Lens Protocol going permissionless. Avoiding protocol DDoS/spam, an idea from @lens/agrislis that I find interesting:
Profiles = free (gas sponsored for qualified users) or pay only gas (if non-qualified)
Handles = pay small fee to own a handle
Buying a handle, makes users first class citizen across the Lens Protocol

You can now configure your Lens Profile Managers directly in Buttrfly. This will allow you to give any wallet address the ability to post and interact on behalf of your Lens profile.
Available from the Settings screen on both mobile and web/desktop.
- 🟢 My Lens Profile, Ozymandias.Lens, was offered $330. I didn't sell. You ask why? Because Lens Protocol is building something bigger than that. It's really trying to build on the idea of decentralized social media. It cares about even a single user. An ecosystem is being built that will prevent the censorship of ideas, philosophies and value-creating actions. It takes power away from central structures and gives it to the individual and the communities. It delivers the ideas on the ecosystem to distributed message pools. I don't think they will ever forget the real ecosystem users and value creators. Having @lens/stani , the founder of Lens Protocol and also the founder of Aave, already gives strong confidence. On Lens Protocol, we are all trees trying to create oxygen, and here we create a strong forest community. Communities are stronger together. 🌳
#LensProtocol #Lens #Community
- A lot of users were confused by an unknown address managing their profiles. In most cases, it was the default Lens Profile Manager, which provides a gasless and signless experience.
We've made some UX improvements, and now if the address is the Lens Manager, we display the Lens logo and name.
PS: You can add/remove profile managers directly from orb!
- Last step of the Lens V2 migration, migrating all the follow NFTs to be V2 compliant (tokenization for follow NFTs would be optional so your wallets will look cleaner 🙂) see live footage of migration of follows here https://polygonscan.com/advanced-filter?fadd=0xdb46d1dc155634fbc732f92e853b10b288ad5a1d&tadd=0xdb46d1dc155634fbc732f92e853b10b288ad5a1d&txntype=0&mtd=0xae900c00%7eBatch+Migrate+Followers&ps=100&p=1

- I have seen people asking why the follower count went down and if this was due to a bad migration, but it is not. Lens v1 WALLETS followed, not PROFILES. This caused considerable confusion throughout; it meant if you have ten profiles on a single wallet, they all follow the same people. In Lens V2, we changed this to PROFILES following PROFILES.
On the migration, we mapped any WALLETS who owned a PROFILE to their most active PROFILE (if they held more than 1), and we attached the follows to that PROFILE as now PROFILES follow PROFILES. Any loss on follower count was WALLETS following, which did not own a PROFILE; they still own the follower NFT and can apply it to any PROFILE if they mint one any time, and that follow will be +1 again as It's valid.
Follower NFTs can still be minted by unwrapping them from the PROFILE and applying to any PROFILE - you still own them and can do whatever you wish. They do not follow the 721 standard until unwrapped into a Follower NTF.
I hope this explains it; PROFILE > PROFILE following allows a better experience for the whole protocol.
- Simple explainer what just happened
- Lenny is heading to Devconnect and @lens/ethglobal İstanbul
- Less than a month to go until Devconnect, and for those attending, I'd like to offer some lighthearted advice I wish I'd known before going to these events.
1.- First and foremost, let's get this out of the way: Devconnect isn't a typical event with a central focus and a few side events. It's more like a bunch of awesome side events happening simultaneously. So, start exploring what you'd like to attend now and get yourself registered. Keep in mind that spots are limited, so it's better to overbook yourself a bit rather than twiddle your thumbs.
Here are a couple of links where you can register and see all the events taking place:
2.- Let's address the elephant in the room, even though I might not be the best person to discuss this topic. The ongoing conflict in Israel and Palestine could potentially lead to some SideEvents being canceled. It's already happened with a big one I was looking forward to from ENS. The DevConnect team has issued a statement regarding this issue, and you can read it here:
https://t.co/dcTBLg71go
https://twitter.com/ensdomains/status/1714309021740798344
I'm posting this to see what your thoughts are. Have you canceled your trip? Do you think everything will go as planned? I'd love to hear your perspective. I'm from Chile, one of the world's longest countries, stretching over 4,300 km. The distance from Israel to Istanbul, about 1,200 km, it doesn't seem crazy to me to get a little worried, but I realize that everyone's reality is different.
3.- Make sure your trip is worth it by setting clear objectives. I've traveled with various goals in mind in the past. Here are a few examples: developing a project to see if people are interested or using it, making initial connections with VCs or angel investors, securing investment, finding users, forming partnerships with other startups, job hunting, and more.
4.- Managing your social battery is essential. I know a week filled with crypto events may sound like a dream come true, almost like a crypto Woodstock, but I've spoken to many people who found themselves exhausted after 3-4 days of non-stop conversations about their projects. Take a morning or evening to do something different, explore the city, have a meal with friends, and recharge.
5.- This point might contradict the previous one a bit, but it took me a few events to realize the significance of crypto party’s . I'm not a big fan of late nights, but I've made great friends, met investors, formed partnerships, found clients, and more at these nocturnal events. They have a unique atmosphere, so even if they're not your thing, it's essential to attend at least one (tickets for these events tend to sell out fast, so apply early).
Remember, this advice is based on my personal experience, and if you have other insights or opinions, I'd love to hear them, especially regarding point 2. Enjoy Devconnect!
- I love boating 😍
