Hosting a little web3 consumer social happy hour in Paris this Tues (tomorrow!) with @christine.lens and @lensprotocol... Who is around? https://partiful.com/e/s9qWV1kbAw6zxNjwGGgh
Wrote a new piece for HBR! It's about how ownership needs to be felt and received by users, not just technically granted. This element of "psychological ownership" is a missing ingredient for many tokens and user-owned networks and products in web3 https://hbr.org/2023/04/building-psychological-attachment-not-just-ownership-into-web3?ab=hero-main-text
We’re excited to announce the inaugural Variant Founder Fellowship: a three-month cohort-based program for web3 founders at the earliest stages of their journey. I'll be on Twitter doing an AMA about the program today from 12-1pm ET - hashtag #VariantFF! https://variant.fund/variant-founder-fellowship/
I'm publishing a 2-part blog post soon about ownership. Subscribe and mint (free) to read it 24 hours before I send out to the public — and collect this beautiful corgi! https://li.mirror.xyz/mlr8wQunLhvpQNWRc2wf55J0SEyOSBD09I-yIy79Xlw
Hosting a conversation with @stani.lens on Thurs 9am ET on Twitter Spaces about the future of decentralized social, along with Lens builders & creators! Join us! https://twitter.com/i/spaces/1OyJAVovMEnxb?s=20
We wrote a blog post unpacking the key learnings from the Blur airdrop, which we think is relevant to all crypto projects seeking to distribute ownership to users: https://variant.fund/articles/what-crypto-founders-can-learn-from-blurs-token-airdrop/ Curious to get folks' thoughts on their airdrop. What will the long-term impact be?
Moments on @lensprotocol that altered my brain chemistry: - Making a post on @lenster.lens and automagically seeing it on @orbwagmiprotocol.lens (& others) - Realizing that curators who mirror (re-share) posts can earn referral fees on post collects, simply for being in the chain of distribution - Seeing that the top creator on Lens (@pussy_riot.lens) has earned $90k+ so far just for making posts that have been collected (who has ever earned that much directly from web2 social in such a short time??) - Meeting founders building social apps on top of Lens, with thousands of DAUs despite being one-person teams. Which is possible b/c they're building on top of an open protocol and don't need extensive teams focused on growth and guerilla marketing...
Curious to get everyone's thoughts on what I outlined here in terms of token incentives! https://variant.fund/articles/consumer-tokens-should-look-like-web2-incentive-programs-twitter-thread/
