- We broke all records! Congratulations to the Lens community. The future of social is onchain.
- Lens is an on-chain social protocol where users own their profiles and the connections they create, all secured by the blockchain. Content is also secured, either by data availability (Arweave) or by being posted on-chain for paid collection as NFTs. If you are familiar with Web3 and non-custodial applications, Lens guarantees that no one can take your profile and followers away from you. It's yours forever.
Apps and algorithms are provided by third parties (you might be reading this post from a third-party app now). Users can also choose their algorithms, and more feed algorithms will be available as the application and algorithm ecosystem evolves.
I hope you enjoy exploring Lens and all the apps here. It's just the beginning, like Ethereum back in 2014 and Bitcoin back in 2008. The community can make the most out of Lens by creating valuable and meaningful discussions, producing high-quality content, and collecting content to support creators.
The future of Lens is yours to shape.

- Sometimes people may think, what does L2 exist for the sake of existence? Personally, I look forward to Ethereum's sharding technology. I think if Ethereum's sharding technology is successfully launched, it will help the encrypted community to popularize more people.

- We're proud to introduce Lens Improvement Proposals (LIPs). This open, collaborative process will guide the future development of Lens Protocol.
Taking inspiration from the successful Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) and Aave Improvement Proposals (AIPs), LIPs takes a step towards decentralized governance. The LIPs process will foster an inclusive, transparent and collaborative environment.
You will find how to participate in LIPs in the Lens Protocol’s GitHub repository, which streamlines the community participation process. It gives anyone the chance to submit proposals, and promotes open discussion.
Let's dive into the first three proposals that are live today:
LIP-0: Establishing an Open Governance Model. A process where the Lens community can propose improvements to Lens Protocol. From the submission of proposals to transparent discussions — we aim to foster an open, collaborative, and inclusive decision-making governance model.
LIP-1: Open Standards for Algorithms. A proposal to establish open standards for algorithms — based on the open Lens data layer — that will encourage the development of third-party algorithms, diverse experiences and provide user choice.
LIP-2: Open Standards for Metadata. An initiative to establish metadata standards for Lens Protocol, promoting transparency, interoperability, and user empowerment.
Take a deep dive into LIPs in our latest blog: https://mirror.xyz/lensprotocol.eth/8uxN9fMYBOqyDW5yZ6O3DDdOLEv1jJtxcw9qk4c4wgM
LIPs are our next step in enabling community involvement in shaping Lens Protocol's future.

- Electrifryer
Embarking on his musical journey at the College For Digital Drummers in 2001, Petey Styles, better known as Electrifryer, rapidly honed his distinctive style and rhythm, which later inspired drummers like Drummy Knots and Mike Drum, to name a few.
Fresh out of college, Petey received a call from The Electric Big Band Orkestra, an up-and-coming touring ensemble featuring a rotating cast of talented musicians led by the extraordinary keyboardist, arranger, and composer, Duke Mellotron.
It was during this stint that Petey earned the moniker "Electrifryer." After a gig in Kansas City, Petey and some of the other musicians took LSD. At the peak of the trip, Petey managed to electrify himself with an air fryer in his hotel suite. The shock left his hair completely fried, and it never grew back quite the same.
While with EBBO, Petey befriended fellow bandmates Mitch Glitch and Robby Segal. However, after being fired from EBBO in 2003 due to consistent drug abuse and missed rehearsals, Petey snatched Mitch and Robby from the band, forming the musical trio RME. Renowned for their bold Classical PopHouse sound, RME quickly gained national attention and a devoted fanbase.
RME took a hiatus when Petey entered rehab, but after his recovery, the band picked up where they left off, performing for tens of thousands of ecstatic fans worldwide. More than two decades later, they're still going strong, hot off their latest release, "Won't You Sock It To Me Baby?"—a 3+ hour Pop Opera that spans numerous genres and themes. Currently, they're touring the globe, performing the album in its entirety, backed by a 200-piece orchestra, much to the delight of their fans.

Let's scale @lensprotocol 🤝
- Introducing Bonsai, an Optimistic L3 scaling solution, that will process transactions at hyper-scale, and is designed to support the next generation of web3 social users.
Available for Lens devs in closed beta today.
Data availability layers are utilized to prevent storing information on-chain. While content on Lens may include an on-chain transaction, the content data is linked to a data availability location, like Bonsai.
Bonsai serves as a scaling solution that processes Polygon transactions off-chain, achieving hyperscale and reducing costs. Unlike L2 solutions, Bonsai doesn't compress transactions into L1, it sends and stores them on a data availability layer.
The main challenge for decentralized social networks is to ensure that users have control over their content, while still being just as user-friendly as traditional social networks.
Bonsai makes the future of decentralized social possible.
We've worked relentlessly with the @bundlr-network.lens work and Arweave teams to ensure scalability by providing Data Availability (DA) guarantees, allowing the use of Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-supported wallets to save DA logic and facilitating the rapid publishing of data.
Permissionless innovation is at the core of everything we do on Lens. As we approach one year on mainnet (still in beta), we have been blown away by the talent and passion in our dev community but we realize in order to scale to the masses, we need to build new solutions.
Bonsai is currently only being beta tested on @lensterxyz.
We look forward to seeing more applications roll out Bonsai.
