I'm dropping a special alt cover of For Ophelia full EP.
I stuck with the cat theme of the alt covers of the singles on Sound but added in some bonsai themes and went full cartoon. 🐈 This was one of maybe 12 covers I worked out. There was a poll on IG and FB, I ran it by @lens/0xzfi who is always a great supporter with clear opinions and advice. I also asked Ophelia. Then I just chose my favorite 😂
Do you know which song the orange throwback came from?
This is the first time I have dropped the full EP as a collectible and it's here and in $BONSAI!
This version has added moog synth bridges between songs and a slightly different mix on the master. I'm including @lens/0xzfi in the collect share as he owns EVERY piece of onchain music I have released! I included him on the sound drop of It's Already Begun so go collect that as well! I'm heading out to a wedding/crawfish boil soon but feel free to drop some 420 & Halving holidays pics in the chat and let me know what you think of For Ophelia. This EP is really special to me and I hope you enjoy! I have a lot more music coming this year and I will be rewarding listeners and collectors. This goes for ALL of my retro and new collectors.
**Kinda Always Sleepy**
The entire EP began with this song. It was written as a gift, For Ophelia, and was originally only this song. As I was working it out in the studio, the third song, *It's Already Begun,* came out of me. The dream-like quality of this song fits well with Ophelia’s quixotic and pensive morning moods. This was written on acoustic guitar but I ended up recording the dreamy electric guitar first. I used my Gibson Les Paul through an EHX Epitome and a Mesa Boogie Quad through Marshall JCM1960. I backed up the electric with the Alvarez Yairi acoustic that I wrote it on. I played the drums with one brush and one stick with the snare ribbon disengaged for a very quiet beat.
**Alese Got Out**
After writing the first and third songs I wanted to keep going so I plugged in and started jamming away something with some simple power chords to break up the ambience a bit. Alese is Ophelia’s Belgian Malinois that sometimes breaks out and goes on her own adventures. This is definitely her energy and was an easy title. I stuck with the Les Paul/Mesa setup for this whole album but I pumped up the lead channel and got raw with it. For this song I felt a solid bass was needed to backup the energy of the guitar and hold the rhythm down. With the solid bass, the drums were allowed a bit more looseness and let the energy fly, especially during the verse riffs.
**It’s Already Begun**
This song was written as a reflection of *Kinda Always Sleepy* and came from experimenting with the Epitome effects while recording the first track. I intentionally kept the riff simple so that I could explore the music via production. I played the delay in order to experiment with the space in the riff and the rhythms that began as the reflections and echoes met each other. I wanted the drums to be less intrusive to the song so I manually filtered it to reveal the rhythm where I wanted within the song and in reflection to the guitars’ delay. As happy as I was with the original take I felt like the repetition gave space for a lead instrument or vocals. I chose theremin as the lead instrument and used it as a vocalist to express ranges that the delay and drums were not occupying. I used two theremin voices as a call and response to each other and gave them space to wander.
- Perspectives is a string quartet that I wrote for choreographer Kathleen Dyer of KDNY Dance. It premiered at New York Live Arts.
Perspectives begins sparsely with a pizzicato line in the cello and a questioning motif in the violins. The momentum gradually builds until all four players join in on a syncopated sixteenth note theme.

- Robots creating art while humans do all of the labor is certainly not the dystopia anyone predicted but here we are. I'm wondering if this makes sense logically and also lends some credence to panpsychism. The machines we have created for labor so far are just glorified tools with highly specific functions, no creativity, or ability to function outside of specific circumstances.
AI learning the creative mind, human knowledge, and communication gives a potential mind to machines and robots that wouldn't otherwise have developed. No amount of technical and mechanical proficiency would develop a robot that's able to be creative or innovative in its function beyond direct programmed input. If you develop a strong general intelligence and then give it the body to do things it will achieve a greater outcome.
Matter presumes consciousness.

Attached some images inside the low limit that Twitter allows. The idea is that the project consists of infinite images.
OK... What is this about:
My father became obsessed with photography after he retired. He took thousands of images of rather uneventful places around Zurich in Switzerland where he and me live. His images had a very understated humor in how he captured the mundane. He shared it with me and we discussed. Inspired by the contest I asked him if I could train a model on his images. He agreed and I trained an SDXL checkpoint on around 50 photos and the resulting model worked well in capturing the essence of a Swiss (probably similar to Germany or Austria) city and surroundings.
Sometimes I get an eerie feeling looking at the somewhat boring tidiness, perfect organization and wealth that surrounds me. When I see images of Ukraine, where I was several times and have friends and which is a short flight or a manageable car-drive away. Or worse the middle-east, which leaves me totally helpless in what to even think or feel I get something like survivor's guilt. The wealth and stability suddenly seems fragile and maybe it is us causing all this, or at least not doing enough or anything.
I took the model trained on my father's images and added 'war' and 'destruction' to the prompt. The result is a stream of ephemeral pictures of an imaginary war-torn alpine western European country.
One of my main interests in AI art is to create a concept and code for endless and unique, fleeting images.
Tech: This runs on a React frontend doing the whole prompt logic and calling a ComfyUI backend on Runpod Serverless. The Comfy Workflow is rather simple with a low-res image generated by my trained model and then being upscaled by RealVisXL-turbo using the great PAG (Perturbed Attention Guidance). Be patient. It still takes around 1 minute per image.
I learnt a lot. I wanted to do much more: like a page that would show an endless slideshow of new images and sound but in the end I met my limits (and ChatGPT was down today when I needed it)... Maybe will update along the way

- Rejected by the classical label Deutsch Gramophone, this rework of Chopin's "Nocturnes Op 9 N2" is something that I still love. It was pitched for their "Summer Tales" compilation. I can understand why it didn't make it to the track list. Way too dark.
