Many newcomers have recently joined the Lens ecosystem, and here is a brief FAQ about the Lens Protocol! 👇
1️⃣ What is Lens Protocol?
The Lens Protocol is a Web3 social graph on the Polygon blockchain. It empowers creators to own the links between themselves and their community, forming a fully composable, user-owned social graph.
2️⃣ What is a Lens Profile NFT?
Profiles on Lens are represented by a Profile NFT, the main object in the Lens Protocol. Owning this NFT gives you control over your social graph and content. Individual addresses own ProfileNFTs, and an address can have multiple ProfileNFTs. Atm, only invited users can claim a Lens Profile NFT.
3️⃣ What differentiates the Lens Profile NFT from other on-chain IDs?
Profile NFTs can post content. They contain the history of all your posts, quotes, mirrors, comments, and other content. All your social data are linked to your Lens Profile NFT.
4️⃣ What is a Lens Handle?
Lens Handles are like usernames on a social network, for example, @lens/stani @lens/punkess or @lens/jessyjeanne
5️⃣ Do I need to pay a gas fee while posting on Lens apps?
No, if you enable your Lens Manager while using any @lens/lens apps like @lens/orbapp @lens/kaira @lens/phaver or @lens/t2world you don’t need to pay a fee or sign on-chain transactions for posting, commenting, liking, etc.
6️⃣ Do I need different Lens Profile NFTs to use different Lens apps?
No. With a single Lens Profile NFT, you can explore all Lens apps. Each app is a client offering different UX and benefits, and they all feed from the Lens Protocol. Your posts, comments, etc., from different apps, can be seen in other apps.
7️⃣ What is the collect feature?
You can post collectible posts. Set a price, supply, or time limit with advanced settings. It's a new way of on-chain social engagement!

(if you can post something related to what you are interested in ... 🎇 -> People you start following might take a look at your profile and follow if they are interested in the content you share.) Find one great example at the end of the post.

(2) find your twitter contacts on lens: https://inlens.xyz (*) (not everyone with a lens profile, active on twitter, is very active on lens (yet ;-)). Maybe consider connecting with new people, sharing interesting content on lens.)
(3) probably you read this post on @lens/hey . If you are interested in lens mobile apps, @lens/orbapp and @lens/buttrfly are at the moment - imo - the most advanced general purpose lens mobile apps. One of the beautiful things regarding lens is that it doesn't matter which lens app you use, every lens app has access to the same content and social graph.
(4) what you share on lens is stored and publicly available for a very long time. Probably forever. You can hide posts, comments and mirrors. But that's a front-end feature, the data is still available and publicly accessible.
(5) "collects" are a very powerful concept, adding a NFT version of the post to your address (4th symbol below a post on @lens/hey ). Collects can be monetised -> creators can use collect fees to earn money on lens.
one more thing :-) being active, commenting on posts and topics you are interested in goes a long way. Of course there is a chance that your posts will be discovered, commented and mirrored, but you increase the probability of being discovered dramatically with valuable comments. @lens/jeanmi : "be yourself, try to engage with people, sharing images seems to accelerate engagement/growth, people love to 'GM'"
It is quite challenging to get attention, especially for new profiles. A few approaches to get more visibility:
[1] @lens/animators started on lens drawing lens PFPs https://lenster.xyz/posts/0x0108fb-0x75 . Imo still one of the best (high quality) growth hacks I’ve seen on lens yet (0 to 100 followers). Maybe you can think of something inspired by @lens/animators ’ idea based on your talent and skills.
[2] consider joining communities on @lens/orbapp and/or communities on @lens/diversehq (e.g. you can post directly to the @lens/mixtape feed, be active in the #lensfit community or join c/food).
[3] consider contributing content to the weekly @lens/thisweekon highlight series ( https://lenster.xyz/posts/0x01d898-0x04 ) or other content threads like @lens/trustmebro . (Keep an eye on @lens/ryanfox ;-).)
[4] consider participating in campaigns / events on lens like TRIVIATOWN.eth by @lens/prashantbagga or create an event (maybe check out #OPENLENS for reference). (If you plan to create something please feel free to reach out 🤍)
[5] consider joining lens spaces on @lens/buttrfly .
[6] @ profiles you think your content is relevant for or you would like to get input from. Pls be selective and not spammy.
