What is Nori? Nori Co-founder and CEO, Paul Gambill, explains the Nori Carbon Removal Marketplace in two minutes. Paul emphasizes that Nori is more of a carbon price discovery company than a carbon credit sales company. Back when Paul began researching the space in 2015, he looked at the overall size of the carbon market— How much were people paying for carbon? And at what volumes? He discovered that carbon credit sales are broken out into primary sales, and secondary sales. Many carbon credits are sold more than once. The system is designed such that carbon credits are issued to people who do carbon offset projects, then these credits are sold, then these credits can be re-sold many times over before eventually, hopefully, an end buyer chooses to retire the credit. To 'retire' a carbon credit means to take the credit out of circulation and say that the credit is no longer available for resale. These systems were set up this way so that people could have a tradable commodity asset to figure out what the price of carbon is and should be. This was a seemingly good idea but allowing the trading of carbon means that we're not actually accelerating the rate at which we're drawing carbon out of the air. At Nori, we connect buyers who want to be carbon-neutral or carbon-negative, with suppliers who actually remove carbon from the air. When a supplier sells an NRT (Nori Carbon Removal Tonne, which represents 1 tonne of CO2e removed and stored for at least 10 years) to a buyer, it is immediately retired and cannot be resold. We record the retired CO2 as an NFT certificate on the Polygon blockchain which makes it transparent and non-transferable. But we still want a tradable commodity asset, because we need to know what the price of carbon is. That's the role that the $NORI token plays. One $NORI purchases one tonne of CO2 and that peg will always remain fixed. But the price of $NORI will float relative to supply and demand. So, when we want to know what the carbon price is, we should look to the $NORI token as a carbon reference price. With the carbon reference price in the form of $NORI, we will be able to build a large industry to remove enough carbon from the atmosphere and reverse climate change. Read below. 👇 Phase 1: The Nori Marketplace - Completed ✅ Since founding Nori five years ago, we’ve developed a marketplace for creating, managing and selling carbon removal credits, or NRTs, that are retired on-chain. One NRT (Nori Carbon Removal Tonne) represents one tonne of CO2 sequestered and stored for a minimum of 10 years.💪 During this time, Nori has proven market interest in carbon removal, with more than 117,000 tonnes of carbon sold and more than null.8M paid out to over 17 farmers who sequestered and stored this carbon in their soils. NRTs during this phase have sold at a static price ($20 today) and are immediately retired on-chain and NEVER re-sold. However, in order to scale growth of carbon removal, or supply of NRTs, we need clear incentives for suppliers. They need to know how much they can expect to get paid for removing carbon and there should be dynamic price discovery between supply and demand of NRTs.🤔 This is where the $NORI token comes in.🧠 Phase 2: Launching the $NORI token 🚀 In addition to growing supply and access to NRTs in the marketplace, Nori is currently focused on launching the $NORI token, a price discovery mechanism that will be able to be used to purchase Nori Carbon Removal Tonnes (NRTs). There are many aspects to this. The First Aavegotchi Artist Summit! Presented by GMI. Part 1 of 4. Welcome to the first ever Aavegotchi Artist Summit, hosted by GMI! Gotchiverse Media International takes great pride in helping spread the Gotchi Gospel to the furthest reaches of the Citaadel, the Grid and beyond. There is no community quite like the #Gotchigang and this was a memorable experience for all involved. This event has held live in the GMI Discord server following the Aavegotchi Saturday Hangout on August 27th, 2022. Our agenda was top notch and the alpha river flowed from start to finish. Things started off with a solo beatbox session by alter Gotchi ego, CiderDan, then hit the Keynote series masterfully presented by GldnXross, Master Yang and NyanKong. After that, Ser Hefe invited many of the established and emerging Aavegotchi Community Artists to take the stage and introduce themselves, their inspirations and ambitions. We heard from the likes of Roxiano, Rigo J Mortis, Zim Teemo, Kontak, LEV, NoFuturistic and moar! Remember these moments frens, wen we could still contain the attention and focus of these fast rising stars before they make ascension to the Gotchi Halls of Fame. Last but not least, it's not a GMI Summit without a Dance Party. We wrapped up this event with an extended playlist contributed by NoFuturistic, Zombie Shepard, DJ Superpaul and Fase. What do you all think about NFT royalties? i.e. after someone collects your content, you as a creator can pre-set a fixed fee that you can collect from each secondary sale? I think it has value for the creators to establish more sustainable on-going revenue and for the collectors perspective I would imagine that secondary market sale fee would decrease the initial price of the NFT and increases the collector base. Would love to hear thoughts 💭
