Stonehenge is one of the most famous religious buildings in the world, a huge number of legends and myths are dedicated to its ancient megaliths. It is located in the center of the Salisbury plain in the south of England.
There is hardly another structure in the world that has kept its secrets for as many years as the stone circle on Salisbury Plain. One can only say with certainty that Stonehenge was a religious building and burial place in the Mesolithic period (c. To 8500 AD) and that its name came from the Old English stanhen meaning "hanging stones".
