What if you could Collect using any token, and name your own price? Now that’s actually possible, thanks to a new *Collect Module* that I just deployed!
I’ve been interested in the PWYW pricing strategy since Radiohead released one of the greatest albums of all time, In Rainbows, direct-to-consumer using this model back in 2007. It’s also popular on software distribution platforms like Gumroad and Humble Bundle.
It’s already live, and in fact, you can name your own token and price for this post right now (where supported)!

- Looks like the bottom is in, but we will have to go sideways for a while as markets price it in
Which means weak alts will dump

- I disagree, sir.
Memecoins are a net positive to blockchain because they monetize attention and shared value
- Friendtech points are being traded (or speculated) for $ 7/each on hyperliquid. It seems people are bullish on V2 and token airdrop. Got around 400 points so I would be happy for a free $ 3k but I don't think it's gonna be so high after the airdrop.
Do you think it is overpriced?

- I read somewhere that taxes are like the subscription to your country that illeagal to unsubscribe to. I can’t un-learn this.
- Question though (and not disgruntled, more curious).
I couldn’t ‘collect’ anything with my wallet until Thursday. Then had to manually buy and load Bonsai for that 69 Bonsai ‘good news post’ by Orb on Thursday (expired Friday), which frankly was my own risk, but …
I am just curious what the point of that post was given what you said above?
- 100% this. I'm on Android mobile. I jump into collecting, now that I finally can. It's not that I haven't been trying to do it for months!!! One of the first messages I see is from @lens/nilesh saying "good news, collect this for 69 bonsai" and then there's an airdrop later that day. It led me to the expectation that there was some error, which then 24hrs later was clarified by the team. But I was already tilted, and I still don't understand the point of the posts
- To make your lives easier.
If you closed and opened your orb app and seen no claim. You did not qualify in whatever claim your looking for. If you think you did it’s very unfortunate. however, the team was transparent on what the criteria was after releasing. If you never collected or barely collected post in bonsai that alone will disqualify you.
There are many more airdrops. Don’t be disgruntled or discouraged by not receiving 1.
(The orb was not part of the $bonsai one)
Also technically until they state on the website this was a $bonsai airdrop that means it was a thank you to the community that participated early on.
Remember just holding something doesn’t make you a community member. You have to partake in the community to be a member.
P.S. instead of complaining take this moment to create content. Create a better way of these claim. Create videos for onboarding new users. Make a podcast around $bonsai and bring on the creators. If you don’t wanna do that. Just make post that allow you to start a conversation and not be looked at as someone that’s gonna just complain when they aren’t given free things.
- Ngl my social experience on orb the past few days has just been a constant feed of people sharing airdrop claims. I got none, not active enough or didn't collect enough I guess. Generates this weird feeling of fomo and jealousy (even tho they are often small) that keeps me locked into the app but also slightly pissed off? Some psychological stuff at play.
Imo that's why crypto social is so different. In my friendtech experience, I put in hundreds of hours there and I have never cared more about a crypto app before. Then the key prices dump and it's this combo of social connections but also money and investment
Not sure if it's healthy for us long term. Lots to think about
- Onchain social graph is a really powerful feature of Lens, it allows users to own their audiences. I think we will see some interesting trush graphs and scores being built on this primitive.
- Didn't get either airdrop. Apparently need to be on here more
-
- LayerZero
- Good luck doing this one
- Wrong. It has been added to phaver
- Example:
Shot 1: Wallet added and active, has been.
Shot 2: XMTP saying wallet not connected
- Trying to do phaver onboarding activities for the 10th time and just getting error after error after error
Android mobile
Whyyyyyyy
- Premium post
- we're keeping the criteria confidential atm to prevent misuse, but we rewarded the most active orb users from the last year!
- Lmao my feed is 50% "I claimed bonsai" and 50% "how to claim there's an error"
We are still early
- TIL being on lens since April 2022 isn't really that impt if you use Android
- @lens/kipto apologies for the tag but how do we claim? Or how do we check eligibility?
- Can someone tell where and how one claims this?
- Just gonna comment on every post saying they claimed
Until I figure out why I was excluded and/or how to claim
😤
- @lens/paris said "more thoughts less AI art" and I agree. So here's why I think memes meet social tokens meet Lens and why social media will be the thing that brings people in towards the end of this run we are in.
First, a disclaimer: I hate the term "web3" but there currently isn't a better one so please know that I use it begrudgingly.
Ok so-- first off why is DOGE worth billions? Entertainment value is one thing, but it's also community. Web platforms struggle and spend millions, failing more frequently than not, to acquire network effects and community for their product. DOGE has this already. Just no product. So if you can value a company based on anticipating their future community, why can't you value a community based on their use of a future product?
DOGE is also a meme. And memes are shared cultural reference points that exist in this space where it's shared social value / entertainment value / attention value. It's the monetization of attention.
Pump.fun and other sites that allow anyone with a little low and a dream of a token to create their own coin. A coin that's a call on that attention and community.
(Side note: this sounds way too VC I should just stop)
$Boden on Solana is perfect for this as an example. A bunch of crypto folks hate Biden, so an ugly pic and a funny ticker allows them to monetize their shared feelings about him. Sure maybe they're just pushing a narrative for the next buyer, but there's something fundamental there that's getting ignored in the "I just buy what's funny" thesis of the memecoin space, which is shared value and shared attention
Enter social media meme tokens like degen and bonsai. What are these? Speculation vehicles for future community value. Shared value. Attention value.
Friendtech will launch soon. No meme token needed because the meme tokens are people or accounts themselves. Cobie is the meme. Ansem is the meme. Social media fosters para social relationships with large creators, influencers, KOLs, whatever you want to call them. These parasocial relationships are shared attention value which we can speculate on.
Where is this going?
Web3 democratization of attention value away from web2 platforms is a lock. Creators owning their content is a lock. Why are we doing all this collecting on lens apps? Entertainment, future value of creators, shared value of attention.
Where I'm not sure is how the market is going to choose to value things and what stories we will tell about it.
I know Lens has a big part to play though. Six months ago I said on Twitter that we'd have 30 to 40 meme tokens to hit a billion when there were only 4, and I believe we've already seen that (haven't checked but close enough to be obvious now when it wasn't then) ((wish I had made money on it lol))
My future outlook is that people will get used to being the meme tokens themselves, and that this will intuitively make sense to the rest of the world (non cryoto native) in a compelling way because everyone already hates web2 social media. Everyone natively understands that their attention is worth something. And therefore everyone will easily understand that they are their own security providing value. Plus, people will hate it (a positive for attention value).
Fast forward. Imagine taking a loan against your kids future value based on the speculation price of the first two kids you had and what they've achieved. I think we are heading in that direction. Because it's already true in the real world if you think about it when people make hiring and salary decisions based on what college you went to or what family you're from. Crypto is just gonna monetize the fk outta that and make it transparent and open.
Society level reorganization on the horizon. Who the hell knows if good or bad. But definitely new.
End thoughts dump (probably)
Now pay me bonsai or Kyle will chop your bonsai
- Does anyone have any Dust yet?
- @lens/nilesh this is what I'm expecting in regards to DUST plz advise
(Hehehe)
