A recent study published in the journal Intelligence has uncovered a correlation between higher intelligence and left-wing political beliefs. Researchers from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities found that individuals with higher IQ scores and genetic markers associated with superior cognitive abilities were more likely to hold left-wing and liberal political ideologies.
The study, which assessed political orientation, authoritarianism, egalitarianism, social liberalism, and fiscal conservatism, suggests that a genetic predisposition to intelligence influences the development of left-wing beliefs.
The researchers emphasized that political beliefs are complex constructs shaped by various factors and that intelligence alone does not guarantee the possession of sound beliefs or ideologies.
