- Interesting topic related to attack vectors that restaking introduces https://ethresear.ch/t/dynamic-attacks-on-eigenlayer/15178
mainly shows that whenver security is assessed, need to figure how secure the shared security model is cryptoeconomically. I find restaking kind of having similar effect as with bridges, the security is as safe as the least secure network, similarly least secure networks re-staked power could cause some assumptions on the security side. Worth reading.

- Thread on A16Z's Marc Andreessen's Productivity Hacks 🧵
Marc Andreessen was once a productivity fanatic, learning from experts like David Allen & Tim Ferriss. In 2007, he wrote the "Pmarca Guide to Personal Productivity" with 10 tips that still hold up today👇
1/ No advance scheduling
Marc learned from Schwarzenegger that you should only do the most important & interesting things. Schwarzenegger never filled his calendar with meetings. If you wanted to meet him, you'd have to call & check if he's free.
Marc refused all long-term appointments, focusing on his company & family. https://www.amazon.com/dp/0316114758
2/ Keep 3 lists: To-do, Watch, Later
• To-do list: things you must do • Watch list: things you need to follow up on • Later list: things you'll do when you have time
Ignore anything not on these lists.
3/ Anti-Todo List
Every night, write 3-5 tasks for the next day on a small card. Prioritize them. On the back, write tasks completed outside of the 3-5 items.
Benefits? "It gives me an amazing sense of productivity & efficiency. What did I do today? The Anti-Todo List is the answer."
4/ Structured Procrastination
Don't fight procrastination tendencies. Instead, use them to complete other tasks. When you don't want to do something, work on other tasks from your to-do list.
Concept introduced by a Stanford professor in 1949. https://structuredprocrastination.com
5/ Strategic Incompetence
If there's something you don't want to do in an organization, the best way to avoid it is to mess it up the first time you're asked to do it. Or, confidently say you'll fail. (Assuming you're good at other things 😅)
6/ Check email only twice a day
• Urgent matters/people will find you directly • Constantly checking email breaks your flow
7/ Practice inbox zero: either reply or categorize
These two are also how I (happy) handle work emails daily.
(Inbox Zero is a concept by Merlin Mann)
8/ Hide in your iPod (now AirPods)
Wearing earphones makes people less likely to disturb you (even if you're not listening to anything🤣).
9/ Only commit to things you wholeheartedly want to do
10/ Do what you love, everything will be more efficient

Immutable smart contracts are the holy grail of DeFi - there is hardly anyone who would disagree. Back in 2015-2016, most smart contracts were immutable and tons of time and money was spent to make sure they are bug-free before they were launched.
Back in 2016 @MakerDAO was so security-obsessed that they delayed the launch for literally two years pioneering formal verification methods to prove that their code was correct.
But then came DeFi summer and an unprecedented rate of innovation. New protocols were launched almost daily and their complexity grew. There was no more time and money to do the complex formal verification.
As a result, most (now, nearly all) protocols started to use proxies. Contracts are now mutable and can be upgraded by the owner/admin. This - assuming the honesty of the admin - is meant to secure user funds in case a bug is found. And allow for easy functionality upgrades.
But of course, there is a cost - malicious admin can now, through the upgrade, seize users' funds locked in a contract. Clearly, it's a tradeoff for which we - as an industry - have not found a satisfactory solution.
The irony is that if there is a hack in the protocol 99% of users would gladly accept that the admin may stop the hacker and be their savior. Nobody wants their funds to be stolen.
Time delays don't solve the problem - they are ok for planned upgrades so that users that don't like the upgrade can leave the system. But they don't allow for unplanned, emergency upgrades that are meant to fix a bug.
Ultimately we may have to accept that having both liveness and safety is an impossible goal to achieve with mutable contracts and at the same time immutable contracts - given their complexity - are not attainable, at least not in the short term when time-to-market really matters.
It's like having a bomb alarm at the airport - most are false and it's a huge inconvenience to the passengers, but most of us accept the closure of airports as we feel that our security is of utmost importance even if we miss the flight as a consequence of a false alarm.
What that means is that admins should be able to stop the protocol but should not be able to upgrade w/out the consent of the DAO / community. DAO should also be able to replace admins if they abuse their powers.
Obviously stopping the protocol is not good for many DeFi protocols, and the power to do so may be used to benefit financially. However, the only viable alternative is instant upgradability. You cannot have and eat cookies at the same time.
As to who should have the power of pause/upgrade is a more nuanced discussion. MultiSig is better than EOA big MultiSig with public members is (likely ?) better than a small, anonymous one, and DAO is better than MultiSig. In most cases.
Again, @MakerDAO is one of the few protocols that I know of that allow the minority of token holders to act against a potentially dishonest majority through on-chain actions. Are there any other DeFi protocols with that functionality? End of rant.

- Hot take: Ads are not a bad business model, its the current ads model on internet that is broken. Well designed amplification network serves and helps
the users to learn and discover new ideas and rewards those who have the art of amplification. Your are in control of your audience relationship and its up to you what you serve and share to your audience, no innovation that builds better amplification networks on Lens can be stopped because Lens is an open protocol. Its up to the users and integrators to choose what to serve 🌿

- Wen token airdrop? Opensea Pro: Let’s look at the facts
Opensea was back in the headlines on NFT Twitter yesterday after a long time. They announced that Gem V2 will be available from now on under the name Opensea Pro. Opensea had acquired the NFT aggregator Gem last year for several million USD.
Besides the announcement of new features, one tweet in particular has caused a stir. The tweet mentions "community rewards" and has made many people speculate.
Will Opensea drop a token?
If so, when and for whom? Generational wealth? Let's take a closer look.
Opensea has lost significant market share to Blur in recent months.
Blur is now the undisputed #1 NFT marketplace.
While Opensea got rid of marketplace fees & royalties, Blur still has one key advantage in the eyes of many: Token rewards. Just low fees & a few features won't be enough to compete with that.
So Opensea could feel the need to drop a token. Blur has $Blur, Opensea could have $Sea.
If the size of the airdrop would be tied to the all time NFT trading volume of a wallet for example, then that would mean a nice fat paycheck for many of us.
But let me temper your excitement a bit.
Because nothing in Opensea's announcement sounds like a token airdrop à la $Blur.
Rather, they seem to be going a different route. Instead of a token, Opensea seems to be planning on using NFTs as rewards.
But how would that work?
To me, there are two ways Opensea could make this happen…
- my recursive GPT agent is trying to get out of doing work by spawning another instance of itself to do it... infinitely
- I walked into Google this morning. The snacks were gone. The staples too. The barista that usually makes my coffee was replaced by a nespresso machine. I arrived at my desk, and they even swapped my macbook to a chromebook. I’m not sure I can handle this much further.
