- Moral excellence comes about as a result of habit. We become just by doing just acts, temperate by doing temperate acts, brave by doing brave acts.

- Being right is highly overrated. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.
- **Some of their proposals are, at this point, basically the stuff of science fiction -- like, for example, the plan to geo-engineer plankton blooms, via marine iron fertilization, to absorb some of the excess carbon dioxide we've emitted into the atmosphere.**

- The red glow of tail lights indicating another long drive home from work after an even longer 24-hour shift at the hospital. The shift hadn’t been horrible but the constant stream of patients entering the ER meant there was no downtime. She had some of the “regulars” in tonight with new ailments they were sure were going to kill them. It’s amazing what a couple of Tylenol and a physical exam from the doctor did to eliminate their pain, nausea, headache, or whatever other mild symptoms they had. Sometimes she wondered if all they really needed was some interaction with others and a bit of the individual attention they received from the nurses.

saw so many new frens joining since lens went permissionless, so I thought it would be a good time to do an introduction :)
I'm amber, an artist and photographer based in NYC (but I was born and raised in Taiwan 🇹🇼). I've always been very passionate about visual art and experimented with various media, both traditional and digital. Aside from sketching portraits and imaginary creatures for fun, I also love learning different design tools, both 2D and 3D, to bring my creative vision to life.
I fell in love with film photography in the summer of 2021 when I was traveling abroad, and have been sharing my work constantly ever since. It allows me to tell stories through photographs that resembles my own thoughts and emotions - and when I do capture moments with a digital camera, I always play with the color palette to further convey the mood and solidify the narrative.

- Translation is the paradigm, the exemplar of all writing. It is translation that demonstrates most vividly the yearning for transformation that underlies every act involving speech, that supremely human gift.
- **How long will we remain silent and allow others to decide our fates?**
- Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something.
- "It was so great to hear from you today and it was such weird timing," he said. "This is going to sound funny and a little strange, but you were in a dream I had just a couple of days ago. I'd love to get together and tell you about it if you're up for a cup of coffee," he continued, laying the trap he'd been planning for years.
- The light in his life was actually a fire burning all around him.
- There is no need for temples, no need for complicated philosophies. My brain and my heart are my temples; my philosophy is kindness.
- You know that tingly feeling you get on the back of your neck sometimes? I just got that feeling when talking with her. You know I don't believe in sixth senses, but there is something not right with her. I don't know how I know, but I just do.
- Indescribable oppression, which seemed to generate in some unfamiliar part of her consciousness, filled her whole being with a vague anguish. It was like a shadow, like a mist passing across her soul's summer day. It was strange and unfamiliar; it was a mood. She did not sit there inwardly upbraiding her husband, lamenting at Fate, which had directed her footsteps to the path which they had taken. She was just having a good cry all to herself. The mosquitoes made merry over her, biting her firm, round arms and nipping at her bare insteps.
- You've been eyeing me all day and waiting for your move like a lion stalking a gazelle in a savannah.

- She was infatuated with color. She didn't have a favorite color per se, but she did have a fondness for teals and sea greens. You could see it in the clothes she wore that color was an important part of her overall style. She took great pride that color flowed from her and that color was always all around her. That is why, she explained to her date sitting across the table, that she could never have a serious relationship with him due to the fact that he was colorblind.

- **Berry doesn't seem that thrilled about it, saying that they are related "in some twisted way," while I'm sure Palin yelped at the news and told one of the kids to fire up the stove for some moose chili, because "We're famous again!**

- **(For her part, Palacio was inspired to write Wonder after her 3-year-old son started crying at the sight of a young girl with a facial difference.) Investing in authentic casting, despite the difficulties of the search, would have allowed the film’s creators to really stand by their message of inclusion and acceptance.**
