- Bitcoin or Gold? JP Morgan Announces Investors' Choice!
*JP Morgan said in its latest report that institutional investors prefer gold to Bitcoin.*
The question of whether Bitcoin or gold is a safer harbor has not been able to find the exact answer since the first day of BTC, and it seems that it will not.
Because there are those who argue that gold is a safer investment tool, as well as those who say that BTC is a better investment tool.
However, JP Morgan's latest report revealed that investors prefer gold.
According to the report of Coindesk, JP Morgan said in its latest report that institutional investors prefer gold to BTC.
Stating that the reason for this is the regulatory pressures in the USA, JP Morgan analysts said:
*“Regulatory pressures in the US are discouraging institutional investors from dealing with cryptocurrencies.*
*After the collapse of Silicon Vallet Bank, institutional investors are buying gold instead of Bitcoin as a precaution against a potential disaster scenario.”*
Analysts led by Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou added that Bitcoin's 76% rally this year was due to retail purchases rather than institutional investors.
Analysts also said that regulatory pressures in the US have been negative within crypto firms, apart from Bitcoin.
*“Regulatory pressure in the US is pushing American crypto firms to seek opportunities overseas.*
*As a reflection of these pressures, Binance canceled its agreement with Voyager, while Coinbase launched Coinbase International, a crypto derivatives exchange outside the US, as a portable measure."*

- **The Milgraham Experiment / Эксперимент Милгрэма**This is one of the most famous psychological experiments. It was first conducted in 1963 by the psychologist Stanley Milgram of Yale University. Originally Milgraham tried to find out how ordinary citizens of Germany, not prone to sadism, could participate in the extermination of millions of people during the Nazi years.
The essence of the experiment: to find out how much suffering ordinary people are willing to inflict on others if it is part of their job duties. The participants in the experiment were test subjects and pre-trained actors who also portrayed the test subjects. Initially, Meagraham used 40 adult men, then the experiment was repeated with women. According to the legend, one of the participants, who was portrayed by an actor, had to memorize a long list of words, while the other (an unsuspecting subject) had to test the former's memory by "punishing" him for a wrong answer with an electric shock. The actor was tied to a chair with electrodes, and the subject, being in another room, had to gradually increase the voltage from 45 to 450 (!) volts. In fact, the actor only pretended to be electrocuted, but did it very convincingly: at 150 volts he shouted that he was quitting the experiment, and begged to be let out, at higher volts - gave heart-rending "death" cries, and then fell silent.
Results: Virtually all participants in the experiment continued to increase tension despite the cries of the "dying" subject. Most subjects (26 out of 40) reached 450 volts, i.e. "killed" the actor. Obedience to authority (in this case, the scientist who suggested increasing the voltage) was above moral doubt. So the Nazis could have successfully recruited a whole army of executioners in any American town. Not only in America, though - the experiment was later repeated in Germany, Italy, Spain, and other countries, with similar results.
______________________________________________________________________________

- **Party in Thailand vows to give away cryptocurrencies if they win elections**
The head of the opposition For Thailand (Pheu Thai) party, Sretta Taweezin, has promised to give every citizen over the age of 16 an amount of digital assets if they win elections in May. Bangkok Post writes about it.
In total, the party intends to allocate about 500 billion baht (~$15 billion) to the initiative, according to Bloomberg. Each eligible resident will allegedly be able to receive 10,000 baht (~$300).
In which cryptocurrency it is planned to carry out the “state airdrop”, it is not specified.
“Our country has been economically weakened over the past eight years […]. The current government makes small cash handouts. This is the wrong way and does not stimulate proper economic growth,” Tavizin said.
In his opinion, the initiative will provide some economic support to local residents, who in recent years have faced a reduction in income and an increase in expenses.
Recall that from April 1, 2022, businesses in Thailand were recommended to exclude the acceptance of payments in cryptocurrencies.
Later, the authorities canceled VAT on transfers of digital assets until the end of 2023. The regulation is valid only if the transaction was made through a licensed crypto exchange.

- The purchasing power of bitcoin has exceeded the US dollarA number of experts believe that in the foreseeable future, the US dollar will lose its status as a hegemon in the global foreign exchange market. Finbold representatives reported that since 1960, the purchasing power of USD has decreased from 300 to 33.2 points (-88.9%). In turn, this indicator within bitcoin has increased from 33 to 255 points (+672.7%) since 2010.
It should be noted that many economists still fear the potential development of a recession in the American economy. At the moment, there are no obvious signs of such a scenario. However, some analysts expect the development of the largest financial crisis in history, which will even overshadow the period of the Great Depression. For example, this is the opinion of Bloomberg senior strategist Mike McGlone.
Traditionally, bitcoin is negatively correlated with the US currency. However, since the beginning of this year, this indicator has decreased from -60% to -23%. This suggests that the flagship of the crypto market no longer reacts so strongly to the price fluctuations of the US dollar.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin has come close to the $28.5 thousand mark. Over the past week, the coin has increased in price by over 27% and buyers are still holding the initiative. Many experts predict the further growth of bitcoin to new extremes.
Recently, well-known cryptanalyst Bob Lucas posted a tweet in which he assessed the market dynamics of the flagship crypto asset. The expert believes that if in the near future the quotes of the coin will overcome the $ 34 thousand mark, then this can become a reliable springboard for further growth. The expert also noted the increased demand for bitcoin from institutional investors.
Now more and more large holders and financial companies are showing interest in the coin. This is largely facilitated by the development of the banking crisis in the United States.
- **US Bitcoin reaches tentative settlement to reopen Niagara Falls mining facility**After a lengthy legal tussle, the company will have to pay various fees and fines and take extensive noise control measures
Crypto miner US Bitcoin Corp has come to a tentative agreement with the City of Niagara Falls that will allow it to reopen its mining operation in the city, according to a local news report. A state supreme court judge ordered its plant closed in early March. The settlement still requires the approval of the city council.
State Supreme Court Justice Edward Pace ordered the plant’s closing after “weeks of contentious negotiations” between the city and US Bitcoin on the wording of the order. The order enforced a ruling from another state supreme court judge to cease operations while the city sought an injunction to enforce new city ordinances affecting the plant.
Pace found US Bitcoin in contempt of court for ignoring the initial order and imposed fines retroactively to Dec. 9, when it was initially ordered to close. Those fines will total over null million, according to the report.
Now the company will have to pay $150,000 in fees to the city, $180,000 to reimburse legal costs and new application fees. In addition, US Bitcoin will have to take measures to reduce noise at the plant, including building a noise-dampening wall and submitting to third-party monitoring.
US Bitcoin is in the process of merging with Canadian miner Hut 8 in a deal announced in February. It also has facilities in Texas and Nebraska. According to its website, US Bitcoin uses approximately 90% “zero-emissions electricity” at its New York plant.
The state of New York imposed a two-year moratorium on new proof-of-work mining operations and licensing renewals for existing ones, unless they operate on 100% renewable energy. The state’s attorney general issued an investor alert warning of the risks of cryptocurrency investing in June.
- How OpenAI fights toxicity in AI with the dark corners of the Internet and the smart hands of Kenyan taggers
While AI is often called the future of technology, it's important to remember that the technology itself is only as good as the data on which it is trained. That's where these workers come in.
AI models need to be trained with input from a huge critical mass of data so that they learn to recognize and interact with the human environment. These inputs need to be collected, sorted, verified, and formatted.
Such time-consuming and undervalued tasks are usually outsourced by technology companies to an army of non-standard workers, usually based in the Global South.
OpenAI's outsourcing partner in Kenya was Sama, a San Francisco firm that hires workers in Kenya, Uganda and India to tag data for Silicon Valley clients such as Google, Meta and Microsoft.
Sama positions itself as an "ethical artificial intelligence" company.
Despite the fundamental role that these data enrichment professionals play, a growing number of studies are revealing the dangerous working conditions that these workers face.

- Last Mile DeFi 03: Education as a catalyzer of mass adoption with Camila Ramos
gm! On episode 03 of Last Mile DeFi, we speak with Camila Ramos where we explore Cami's journey towards becoming a developer, the importance of equitable access to education, and why Cami is driven by leveraging crypto rails to deliver financial freedom.
Born in Colombia, and brought up in California, Cami’s journey towards becoming a developer began at an early age when she took an hour-long coding course in high school. At the same time, she also saw the inequity in accessing computer science education for black and latino students at her high school. This then kicked off her journey towards unlocking more educational opportunities for underrepresented communities through her writing and content she produces.
Cami’s north star is led by bringing crypto to those who need it most, particularly those in the global south. She sees an opportunity for crypto to provide enhanced financial infrastructure and drive more prosperity for Latin Americans, rather than seemingly futile applications that often times get a lot of attention in mainstream crypto that don’t provide practical use-cases for whose who have most to benefit most from crypto - points she discusses in her piece “The Deadend of Eurocentric Crypto”. This year Cami is focused on not only researching where crypto’s key intervention points lie, but also working towards building and implementing real solutions that drastically enhance people’s lives.
We also explored what real world adoption Cami has seen to date in Latin America and why she believes particular use-cases have taken off in the region and what we can do to nurture more adoption through creating better-designed user flows. One of the most interesting points of conversation is where we explore the questions around whether it is the job of incumbent crypto players to expand into the LatAm region or whether we could see more home-grown projects emerge locally.

- **Neuralink in Pursuit of Clinical Trials Partner: A Glimpse into the Future of Brain Implants**
*Photo by Cash Macanaya on Unsplash*
Elon Musk’s brain implant company, Neuralink, has been in talks with Barrow Neurological Institute as a potential partner for clinical trials. The Arizona-based institute specializes in the treatment and research of neurological diseases and has been approached to help carry out human trials on Neuralink’s revolutionary brain implants. The company has been working on developing this technology since 2016 with the goal of curing intractable conditions like paralysis and blindness.
**FDA Rejection and Safety Concerns**
However, Neuralink faced a significant setback when the FDA rejected its application to progress to human trials in early 2022, citing major safety concerns. Since then, the company has been working diligently to address these concerns, but it remains uncertain whether or not they will be successful in meeting the agency’s requirements.
**Partner with Barrow**
Francisco Ponce, the director of Barrow’s Center for Neuromodulation and Neurosurgery Residency Program, acknowledged that Barrow has helped standardize brain implant surgeries in which the patient can remain asleep, a key step in making it more acceptable to a broad set of the population. Although Ponce declined to comment on Neuralink specifically, he noted that Barrow is well-positioned to conduct such implant research due to its long track record in the field.
**The Future of Brain Computer Interface (BCI) Devices**
Neuralink’s brain implant is a BCI device that uses electrodes to provide direct communication to computers. Currently, no company has received FDA approval to bring a BCI implant to the market yet. However, Musk’s vision for Neuralink’s brain chip is that it will become as ubiquitous as Lasik eye surgery. Although the company faces significant regulatory hurdles, its partnerships with leading neurosurgery centers like Barrow are an encouraging sign that progress is being made towards making the technology a reality.
**Impact on Education**
The successful development of Neuralink’s brain implants could have a significant impact on education. Students with disabilities like paralysis or blindness could potentially benefit from this technology, as it could allow them to communicate more effectively and participate more fully in the classroom. The technology could also provide opportunities for new forms of learning, such as direct brain-to-computer communication, which could revolutionize education as we know it.
**Final Thoughts**
While the potential applications of Neuralink’s brain implants are undoubtedly exciting, there are also valid concerns about their safety and ethical implications. The company has faced probes into its practices, including potential animal welfare violations and mishandling of hazardous pathogens during animal trials. Additionally, the use of brain implants raises questions about privacy and the potential for exploitation by individuals or organizations.
As with any emerging technology, it’s essential to consider the potential risks and benefits carefully. While the future of brain computer interface devices is promising, it’s crucial to approach their development and implementation with caution and careful consideration of all potential impacts. Let me know if you would use NeuroLink.

- **Robots in law. Should artificial intelligence be held accountable for its misdeeds?**
**Technological practices are significantly ahead of the ethical and legal discussions around them. Therefore, any output of the machine beyond the limits of the conditional norm can provoke misunderstanding or aggression**.
global cases of legal regulation of robotics, cryptocurrency markets, dissemination of false information (fake news), agricultural technologies, unmanned transport, education for the digital economy,
**Dangerous independence**
In the USA, judges use estimates obtained from various computer algorithms when passing sentences. For example, from the Compas system, which predicts the risk of committing a repeat crime. In 2016, Eric Loomis, one of the prisoners she recognized as potentially dangerous, received six years in prison. Considering that the algorithm worked incorrectly, Loomis appealed, but failed. It was not possible to find out on the basis of what information the decision was made: the technology belongs to a private company and is a trade secret.
The secret program makes its verdicts on a variety of data about a person — his age, gender, nationality, education, income, biography facts, psychological characteristics, etc. The correctness of such "judging" is not recognized by everyone. An experiment by scientists from Dartmouth College (USA) showed that Compas is effective only in 65% of cases. Nevertheless, over 20 years, it has been used to evaluate the behavior of more than a million defendants.
The technology from the fantastic thriller "Special Opinion" by Steven Spielberg has been in reality for a long time. Computers determine the degree of danger of a person, the police receive lists of potential criminals. How ethical is this and what does it threaten? Documentary filmmakers are looking for answers in the film "PRE-CRIME" (Germany, 2017).
Systems based on artificial intelligence (AI), including intelligent robots, make laws, manage transport and roads, treat, and make production deserted. They become more complex, and therefore more autonomous, reducing a person's ability to understand and control the logic of their "actions".
On the one hand, control is already limited: most of the algorithms are patented, trade secrets, as in the case of Loomis, do not allow us to fully understand the mechanisms of their action. On the other hand, even creators are not immune from the unpredictability of their creations: systems can learn from their own experience, absorb social stereotypes and make decisions based on this.
This tendency to independence raises questions of legal responsibility of AI. The widespread transition to smart technologies is not far off, and for it, the authors of the report believe, "a radical revision of many legal norms in force since the time of Roman law is necessary."
How to regulate the computer brain?
Several models are proposed — from the transfer of existing legislative norms to artificial intelligence to the creation of fundamentally new ones. AI technologies can be considered as:
**The object of copyright, property or a source of increased danger**
Application of norms on copyright protection, property or sources of increased danger.
For example, in relation to financial algorithms for making transactions or in cases of accidents involving unmanned vehicles. So far, there are few such incidents and the proceedings often do not reach the court. But technological progress and the ability of the artificial brain to autonomy will increase both the number of such cases and the difficulties with their regulation.
**Special type of property**
The use of norms regulating a special type of property — animals, since the latter can also behave autonomously.
In legal systems, general property rules usually apply to animals, therefore, owners will be responsible for AI, as well as for animals. However, this approach has limitations:
within the framework of criminal law, the application of legislation by analogy is unacceptable;
the existing norms are created primarily for pets, which should not cause harm under normal circumstances. In some countries, "in certain cases, stricter regulations on wild animals can be used, but this threatens to slow down innovation due to unpredictable risks."
**Legal entity**
Application of the rules on legal entities.
Intelligent machines that have received this status will bear the same responsibility as a legal entity. However, even here there is a problem with analogies: "the actions of legal entities always go back to the actions of an individual or a group of people. The actions of systems based on artificial intelligence will not necessarily directly go back to human actions."
**New legal category**
AI technologies are endowed with "special legal personality".
In 2017, the European Parliament adopted the resolution "Norms of civil law on robotics". In addition to other liability options, it is proposed to give the most advanced machines a special legal status of an electronic person. "The resolution does not specify, but it implies that such robots will be able to independently be responsible for the damage they cause," explains Maxim Karlyuk.
**In conclusion**
The resolution of the European Parliament provides for a system of compulsory insurance of robots by their owners and manufacturers (like liability insurance of car drivers in the event of an accident). And when the damage caused is not covered by insurance, the money must be paid from a special compensation fund.
So far, these are only good intentions. In practice, there are no full-fledged laws on the robot sphere and artificial intelligence as such in the world.

- Lophius piscatorius, also known as the anglerfish, is a fascinating creature that inhabits the depths of the ocean. This predatory fish is well-known for its unique appearance, with a large mouth full of sharp teeth and a fleshy appendage on its head that it uses to lure in its prey.
One of the most interesting things about Lophius piscatorius is its hunting strategy. The fish lies motionless on the ocean floor, camouflaged to blend in with the surrounding environment, and dangles its fleshy lure in front of its mouth. When a curious fish or other prey comes close enough to investigate, the anglerfish strikes, using its powerful jaws to swallow its victim whole.
Another fascinating aspect of Lophius piscatorius is its reproductive habits. The males of this species are much smaller than the females and lack the characteristic lure that makes the females so recognizable. Instead, male anglerfish have evolved to latch onto the female's body using their teeth and become permanently fused to her. The male's circulatory system fuses with the female's, and he begins to rely on her for nutrients and oxygen. This extreme form of parasitism is known as sexual parasitism, and it is one of the most remarkable examples of coevolution in the animal kingdom.
Lophius piscatorius is also an important commercial fish, with a delicate and delicious flavor that is highly prized in many cultures. However, overfishing and habitat destruction have led to declining populations of anglerfish in many areas. To protect this unique species, it is important to carefully manage fishing practices and protect the delicate ecosystems where they live.
In conclusion, Lophius piscatorius is a fascinating and unique creature with many interesting features and behaviors. From its hunting strategy to its reproductive habits, this fish continues to captivate scientists and laypeople alike.
- The Alexandrian Lighthouse, also known as the Pharos of Alexandria, was one of the most iconic structures of the ancient world. Located in the city of Alexandria, Egypt, it was built in the 3rd century BC during the reign of Ptolemy II Philadelphus, and stood at a height of over 100 meters (328 feet).
The lighthouse was constructed on the island of Pharos, which was connected to the mainland by a causeway. It was designed by the architect Sostratus of Cnidus, and was said to be adorned with statues and other decorations. The lighthouse was also a functioning beacon, using fire at night and reflecting mirrors during the day to guide ships into the port of Alexandria.
According to historical accounts, the Alexandrian Lighthouse was considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Its construction and engineering were groundbreaking for its time, and it served as a symbol of the city's wealth and power.
Despite its impressive stature, the lighthouse did not survive the test of time. In the 14th century, it was damaged by a series of earthquakes, and by the 15th century it had collapsed entirely. Today, only the base of the structure remains visible in the waters off the coast of Alexandria.
Despite its disappearance, the Alexandrian Lighthouse remains a testament to the ingenuity and creativity of ancient civilizations. Its legacy lives on in the modern world, inspiring awe and wonder in those who hear its story.
