- Coinbase Earned nullM Amid Hack, but Hasn't Reimbursed Victims
Coinbase received 570 ETH, the second-largest payout tied to MEV in Ethereum’s history, to process transactions related to the Curve exploit.
* The $73 million Curve exploit in July briefly pushed prices on the DeFi platform out of whack, and a trading bot paid 570 ETH to ensure it could take advantage of that once-in-a-lifetime arbitrage opportunity.
* The Ethereum validator that received that payment was apparently run by Coinbase, making it an unwitting beneficiary of the incident.
* Exploit victim Alchemix reached out to Coinbase to seek a refund for victims, but the crypto exchange has evidently not turned over the money.

- Hackers have stolen null.4 billion this year using crypto bridges. Here’s why it’s happening
Crypto investors have been hit hard this year by hacks and scams. One reason is that cybercriminals have found a particularly useful avenue to reach them: bridges.
Blockchain bridges, which tenuously connect networks to enable the fast swaps of tokens, are gaining popularity as a way for crypto users to transact. But in using them, crypto enthusiasts are bypassing a centralized exchange and using a system that’s largely unprotected.

The bitcoin mining industry continues to expand as companies are obtaining more megawatts of capacity, building new facilities, and acquiring thousands of application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) mining rigs. On Friday, the firm Validus Power revealed it has acquired two natural gas power stations in Ontario, Canada, that will become crypto mining facilities. On the same day, the firm Applied Blockchain got a $15 million loan to fund growth and “buildout of its data centers.” While the bitcoin mining industry’s growth has been exponential, at the same time, bitcoin mining operations are making a significant dent toward cleaning up the world’s CO2 emissions.
