Happy happy double Friday! What a wild past few weeks. I'm a bit far behind (hope you have been following IG and Twitter) but wow what a fun past few weeks. As mentioned leading up to the mia, I was down in Brazil for the Rio Art Residency. Absolutely incredible experience with 19 other artists from around the world painting none stop from sunrise to sunset. I honestly couldn't believe how much work was produced, frienships built, and general relationships built from the ground up. I coulnd't be more thankful from **@selkie** putting this show together and having her vision come to fruition.
During the week, everyone stayed in one huge house, ate food, and literally lived and breathed painting. We had an opportunity to go down to the beach and paint a group mural lead by **@Efdot**, then at the end of the week we had a large group show where we invited collectors, friends, family to join us in celebrating the week, along with some incredible samba to dance to. Hard to describe how powerful this week was for myself learning from others and creating in this type of environment. I feel very lucky and fortunate to have been part of this.
I'm very happy to say that my piece I created in Brazil found a home to stay with. A couple down in Rio resonated with my painting and they ended up buying it on the spot a few days after the show. Honestly, very humbled by them and was lucky enough to meet and hang out with them for an evening. I created the painting for Brazil, and the fact that it's staying in Brazil really made me happy. I can't thank them enough. Especially, b/c there was so much amazing art produced, they could have picked up any piece there.
After the residency closed, a few friends stayed an extra week to decompress and to explore Rio more. The beauty and the people are so warm and inviting it was hard to leave. Wish I was still there.
I got back this last Saturday and this week has been major catch up as I wasn't on my computer that whole trip, which was very refreshing. Lets jump into it.
**Weekly Recap:**
-Meetings and fun meetings haha. I had another great call with CounterFeit on an upcoming ordinal drop. We just locked that in and now I need to create. The pitch got the green light and very excited to get this one going. Far out from a launch date, but very cool I have support from their team to help me create this.
-The Rio Art Residency has been compiling everyones piece to create a token drop, partnered with Transient Labs. This drop will be mid-July (stay tuned). Each token will have everyones piece backed into the contract. That means one purchase and you can click through, then set what image you want up front to display + own everyones piece. Unreal tech. Currently a site is being built out, mechanice, and other fun stuff. This token will be the best way to give back to the artists and residency as we are splitting the earnings evenly.
-On top of this, we are bringing the art show to NYC July 18th. I'll be flying out for the show. We'll be doing a 600 minute live painting session at the gallery (open to the public), then having a pannel, art, and dinner after. Sooooo pumped for this. This is a great way to help spread the word of Brazil and how unique and eye opening this residency is for web3. It's the first of its kind and no doubt many more in the future.
-Few other commissions in the works and will be sharing those out much later Lots of other fun stuff too, just can't share yet

there was one time in particular i was out to dinner with a friend who was making fun of NFTs. i tried explaining how beneficial it had been for me but i could tell he still wouldn’t take it seriously. (we’re talking about a very successful director of marketing here who had worked with various high level ad agencies, a smart guy) he goes to the restroom and i get a text from him while he’s gone - a screenshot of a punk. says “this is worth 1 million dollars, now you have it too” as i shake my head and think all that is in his brain is “fuck your jpeg” that was a major source of inspiration for taking the sentiment and owning it (:
