- There is no such thing as “selling too early”. If you made profit, you won.
You simply can not predict the top.
- And so it begins

- me thinking about the cambrian explosion of consumer social crypto enabled apps we are seeing start to unfold in real time
- I want whatever the @lens/lens admin is taking
- It's super exciting to see the community discussing the idea of going permissionless under LIP-5 on GitHub. Here is a quick rundown of the main points raised so far:
**- Spam and Quality Control: c**oncerns about handling spam and ensuring a smooth transition.
**- Community Engagement:** suggestions for community and developer engagement in the protocol's growth.
**- Phased Onboarding Approach:** opinions on prioritizing certain user groups, like Farcaster users, for initial access with varied views on the speed and extent of opening the platform.
**- Infrastructure Utilization: i**deas about using existing Lens infrastructure, like Momoka, for scaling and transaction management
If you have a specific idea on how to best open up the Lens gates, make sure to leave your feedback under the PR. Read the full discussion and contribute here: https://github.com/lens-protocol/LIPs/pull/29
- What a great time to be in tech
- what is this all v2 about 👀
- If I had to guess, I'd say about 70% of ideas are lost because they aren't written down. Establishing a good note-taking system goes such a long way and will help you capture those great ideas you're looking for.
- gm, happy friday!
- Can everyone do a favour before we go permissionless. Start now unfollowing users that are spammy, low signal etc that you don't personally like. It would improve your reputation score (which is public on BigQuery, since it was released) and create better baseline for all activity on Lens. 🧹
The reputation score is public so feel free to lean onto it and build new algos, anon.
- Talk to you all at Lens dev community call in few minutes
- Web3 Social is making BIG moves right now! 2024 is going to be very interesting for us.
- Rails for feed algo markets on Lens are here for some time now and you can test it on @lens/hey . But the example algos did not really pick steam. I see few possible reasons:
➡️ There's not enough bulk data for algos to shine yet
➡️ Current algos are not good enough
➡️ UX around them is not smooth enough (on Hey)
➡️ Users do not have enough control over them. Imagine that you choose an algo and then further tune it to your liking. E.g., set amount or rage, opinion diversity, amount of random stuff to surprise you, etc.). That's something I'd definitely use.
But why is that? Are we simply too early?
Here's one more piece of the puzzle. Monetization of such algos is rather tricky. For apps to share revenues with 3rd parties, the latter must provide something of unique value. Users must badly want specific algos, or it must be hard enough to build or replicate good ones. This could be the core reason behind most of the above.
**Assuming we want to select and tune feed algos ourselves (we do, right?), what could be done to incentivize devs to create such algos and apps to offer them?** 🧐
- Enabling users to personalize their experience on social apps by choosing from a variety of high-quality, open-source content recommendation algorithms.
Developers can monetize their algorithms, and users get full transparency.
What do we need to make this happen?
- Fundamental problem with social media today is that platforms get more or less 100% of the economic value users create
- Introducing MadFi v2 🚀
With Social Clubs, onchain loyalty, and monetization options for creators - our protocol and supporting platform is the first complete offering in #SocialFi
Join a social club, subscribe to your favorite creators, and earn rewards for using crypto social
Crypto social is a better monetization platform for creators.
While traditional social media generally caters towards advertisers and the top 1% of creators, crypto social unlocks value for the long-tail of the creator economy - through digital ownership + onchain media
The MadFi Protocol enables these features
- Crypto Subscriptions to gate premium content
- Onchain Loyalty to reward true fandom
- Smart Posts to enrich social content with onchain actions
- Content Bounties for social campaigns
- Cross-chain Revenue Sharing for creators + sponsor token rewards

It's like Patreon... but on crypto rails
Creators that join the MadFi Social Club get verified badges and full platform access: https://madfi.xyz/creators/madfinance
That's it for now, but we'll be dropping more details around our points system, retro-active points airdrops for NFT communities, ERC20 distributions, rev-share... and more!

- big day for everyone working in crypto and / or blockchain ⚡️⚡️⚡️ a few things that could / should happen as a result of today's news:
- mainstream legitimacy - huge signal that crypto is continuing to mature as an asset class and gain mainstream acceptance in the financial world. institutional investors view ETFs as safer vehicles.
- adoption - this makes purchasing crypto easier for both retail & institutional investors by allowing them to gain exposure through brokerage accounts and 401ks without having to directly hold cryptocurrency.
- capital - the ETF will attract investments from large funds and investors who may have been previously restricted from buying crypto, so it should bring significant capital inflows into Bitcoin and crypto as a broader asset class.
- reduced volatility - the increased liquidity and trading activity from a Bitcoin ETF should help dampen price volatility.
- precedent - this establishes a framework for other cryptocurrencies to eventually have their own ETFs. this **could** make a broad range of tokens investable via ETFs.
- market validation - regulatory approval further validates cryptocurrencies as a legit investment, building market confidence.
not a bad time to be building in this space! congrats to everyone still here 🫡
- Are you in blockchain because you want to maximise your short term ROI or because you have a genuine vision for building a better web?
No judgements, just genuinely curious.

- One great thing about DeSoc is that it encourages competition between apps.
Because the social graph is public, new apps can more easily gain market share by tapping into an existing user group.
This means innovation will always win.
- Can anyone recommend podcasts about decentralized social? I’m interested in @lens/lensprotocol, Farcaster, et cetera.
- I've been eagerly waiting for these analytics! Great work @lens/daoleno 🙌
- Is anyone else always analyzing the UX and design of everything they do since they got into coding?
For example, when I buy something online I'm actively thinking of ways to e.g. improve the layout or the shop's checkout flow.
Maybe I'm just losing it tho 😅
- Feels like 2021 with all this bullishness for the new year. The shitcoin promoters are starting to appear on my timeline again.
- Good predictions for 2024 form Messari (Lens mentioned few times as well): https://resources.messari.io/pdf/crypto-theses-for-2024.pdf
- Happy new year everyone! 🥳
I have a lot of cool things planned for the year ahead, really excited to continue building in 2024. ❤️
- Do you think Web3 social will ever take over Web2 social or only serve as an alternative to it?
- On social media platforms, how much of the ad revenue goes to creators on the platform (on average)?
- Someone got a $points tattoo, does this mean we’re back?

- 👓 Easily manage your bot activities!
After some extended downtime, you can now use our web dashboard to manage your Social Bot activities again. We also added some minor UX improvements and bug fixes. 😉

- Do you think Lens will go permissionless before GTA 6 comes out? 👀
- I really like the idea of a randomly generated avatar as a default profile picture, it makes profiles without avatars look so much better on the platform!
- Imagine the dopamine flow if Lens goes permissionless at the same time as GTA6 drops
- Decentralization is not enough to convert Web2 users to Web3 social. We need to build better experiences than on Web2 social by leveraging Web3 technology. It's all about UX.

- Last week my team and I made it to the finalists of @lens/ethglobal's ETHOnline hackathon. 🥳
We built a browser extension that generates personalized experiences for eCommerce consumers by issuing purchase receipts as Polygon ID verifiable credentials, allowing merchants to create deals based on purchase history, and allowing consumers to unlock deals with ZK-proofs keeping the user's data fully private.
This was my first hackathon, and I'm super happy we were able to win some prizes!
