- **In The Giver, society has "solved" inequality by dramatically reducing personal property and having the state distribute what's left. (This is not the sort of solution that might be recommended by a moderate market skeptic, like Capital in the Twenty-First Century’s author Thomas Piketty.**

- ✨ a little 'about me' ✨
saw so many new frens joining since lens went permissionless, so I thought it would be a good time to do an introduction :)
I'm amber, an artist and photographer based in NYC (but I was born and raised in Taiwan 🇹🇼). I've always been very passionate about visual art and experimented with various media, both traditional and digital. Aside from sketching portraits and imaginary creatures for fun, I also love learning different design tools, both 2D and 3D, to bring my creative vision to life.
I fell in love with film photography in the summer of 2021 when I was traveling abroad, and have been sharing my work constantly ever since. It allows me to tell stories through photographs that resembles my own thoughts and emotions - and when I do capture moments with a digital camera, I always play with the color palette to further convey the mood and solidify the narrative.

- Patience is a virtue but you will never ever accomplish anything if you don't exercise action over patience.
- **Please take with you as much as you need.**
- Reality leaves a lot to the imagination.
- Life is like a sewer. What you get out of it depends on what you put into it.
- Colors bounced around in her head. They mixed and threaded themselves together. Even colors that had no business being together. They were all one, yet distinctly separate at the same time. How was she going to explain this to the others?
- It is not the possession of truth, but the success which attends the seeking after it, that enriches the seeker and brings happiness to him.
- You're never a loser until you quit trying.
- He watched as the young man tried to impress everyone in the room with his intelligence. There was no doubt that he was smart. The fact that he was more intelligent than anyone else in the room could have been easily deduced, but nobody was really paying any attention due to the fact that it was also obvious that the young man only cared about his intelligence.
- It was hidden under the log beside the stream. It had been there for as long as Jerry had been alive. He wasn't sure if anyone besides him and his friends knew of its existence. He knew that anyone could potentially find it, but it was well enough hidden that it seemed unlikely to happen. The fact that it had been there for more than 30 years attested to this. So it was quite a surprise when he found the item was missing.
- Getting up at dawn is for the birds.
- Enjoy man, where it is?
- She had a terrible habit o comparing her life to others. She realized that their life experiences were completely different than her own and that she saw only what they wanted her to see, but that didn't matter. She still compared herself and yearned for what she thought they had and she didn't.
- The simplest things are often the truest.
- **"I think congressional pressure and the FCC ruling finally compelled the NFL to take a serious look at this policy, and when they did, I don't think there was any compelling reason for them to continue it, economically or otherwise," Higgins said in an interview.**
- **Five hundred items a second we're sensing our position and a subset of those times, we're communicating back to the device hosting the game.**
- **New companies get a year grace period before having to comply.**
