- As the Chinese government tightens censorship of critical speech, the Weibo account of the U.S. Embassy in China has unexpectedly become a "wailing wall" for Chinese netizens to vent their dissatisfaction with the country's economic downturn and stock market crash.
Last Friday (February 2), the U.S. Embassy in China published a post on its official Weibo account describing how scientists use satellite data to protect giraffe habitats.
As of Monday (February 5), the post had received 160,000 comments and more than 70 likes. Many of the comments have nothing to do with wildlife conservation.
"Save the stock investors! These people are really bad at governing," a Weibo user commented.

- Former U.S. President Donald Trump was criticized for sharing a video made by supporters on social media. One of the scenes showed current President Joe Biden lying on his back with his hands and feet tied on the back door of a truck. The image sparked criticism from the Biden team.
The Biden campaign accused Trump of "routinely inciting political violence" in pursuit of the November presidential election.
A spokesman for the Trump campaign said Democrats have been calling for "egregious brutality" against Trump.
Trump shared the video on the social media platform Truth Social last Friday (March 29). Subtitles show the video was filmed in Long Island, New York, after Trump attended a memorial service for a New York City police officer who was killed during a traffic stop. Later, the video shows two passing trucks, both covered in American flags and pro-police flags. But the second truck had the words "Trump 2024" printed on it, and there was an image of Biden's hands and feet tied up on the back of the vehicle.
